Description So.
Um.
This is a Wally/Barry AU. With an Wally/Barry pairing
( They are not related in any way here, not even the nephew/uncle  way. )

So...if you don't like it...be careful?

I actually managed to sneak this AU earlier on deviantart, ( 008. Speed )  but shhhh.

Also I finally had the excuse to make a Wally with heterochromia~<3
(...No excuse really. I just did it.)

...It literally took me two days to write that down.
(this AU is my baby as well  >:I   )
___

"Allen! You're late AGAIN!"
He was so winded, that his apologies probably sounded like a whole lot of coughing and wheezing.
He bent forward, resting his hands on his knees, trying to calm his racing heart.
He was late for the bus and had to sprint all the way from the bus stop near his apartment to the crime scene.
He tried to swallow the awful lump in his troat, his mouth feeling dry like he fell face first into a sandcastle.

Then there was a bottle of fresh, clean, oh so beautiful water presented to him.

"Here." Someone said and Barry gratefully took it, taking a couple of big gulps.
When he was able to talk again, he turned toward his 'saviour'.

"Thank you so   very much." he said, smiling gratefully at the redhead before handing the bottle back.
The other man just laughed and pushed the water back.
"No problem~ And you can keep it."
He thanked him again, before noticing his boss walking over.
He quickly straightened up and tried to make himself look presentable, much to his companion's amusement.

"You two introduced yourself yet?" Detective West walked over, raising an unimpressed eyebrow at the blonde for being late again.

The 28 old grinned sheepishy, before thrusting his hand forward to the younger man.
"Sorry! My name is Barry Allen."
"Wally West." The blonde blinked surprized, glancing first at the freckled man, then to his boss, confused.
"West?" Joe never mentioned anything about having children or even simblings.

Wally laughed.

"Don't worry, we're not related." He winked at him with his blue eye. "We are a part of a very interesting surname coincidence!" His voice gained an excited tinge to it, as he started rambling happily "Makes you wonder what the possibility of that is. Two unrelated Wests working at the same police department?"
Barry couldn't help but grin as he joined in, quickly trying to come up with the exact number.
They would have probably talked on, if it weren't for Joe, who had to actually stand between them to interrupt.
"Anyway." He stated loudly, causing their attention to snap to him. "West here will be working with you from now on." He then proceed to push them both toward the police tape. "Now go and get to work."

___

After the first 10 minutes (well...10 seconds really) Barry could see they were working great together.
They happily rambled on about the crime scene, causing everyone around to roll their eyes, because 'One dork was enough and now they had to work with two.'
They worked quickly and effortlessly, and managed to gather a lot of evidence.

Wally seemed to have more knowledge of mechanics and biology while with Barry it was more about science and chemistry.

They both found it refreshing to work with someone, who actually understood what they were saying.

___

Soon they were making their way back to the station, talking about the case, until they ran out of theories.
Then they started to talk about other stuff, getting to know each other better.

Wally was only 21 and he already had a job at the station.
He moved here recently, after he finished Stanford. He lived in Blue Valley, Nebrasca before that.

The redhead seemed really easy going and happy, and they just clicked. They became friends somewhere along the way to the station.
Probably when they passed the ice cream shop and both of them stopped at the same time, both craving the dessert.

___

To Joe's horror, they showed up late.
Twin grins on their faces, slightly breathless from their run - because they decided to take stairs everywhere, and not the elevator like normal people. And 'walking was boring' too so they preffered to race.
He complained that Barry was corrupting everyone around him to be late and soon no one will be working.
Wally promised that next time they will be on time or even earlier.
They were working out compromises.

___

Barry honestly didn't know how did it always happen.
He just didn't feel the pressure of time as much as he should.
He also never felt guilty for being late.

That's probably why he couldn't get how Wally managed to be everywhere on time. Or even earlier.

Barry often invited Wally over, so they could go to work together - seeing as Barry's house was on Wally's way to the station - and then, when the red head arrived, Barry was never ready.
There were times, where Barry's alarm clock 'didn't ring' and he was still asleep when the younger man came over.

Wally always acted with good humor though.
Waking the blonde up with the doorbell, making him breakfast - or buying breakfast on the way there - while he showered.

And Barry didn't really notice at first, until people started commenting.
He actually started appearing at work on time thanks to Wally.

Not always of course. Sometimes he managed to get both himself and Wally late.

But Joe and other people working at the station seemed satisfied enough that he punctual at least some of the time.
'Baby steps' Wally had commented one day, when they went out to drink with other people from work.

Someone commented that Wally was training Barry like a puppy and they all laughed.
Someone else stage whispered 'whipped!' and he heard someone else make a whip sound, and they laughed harder.

He saw Wally sending him a wink across the table and he couldn't help but grin.

___

"I've never been to your apartment." Barry exclaimed surprized one evening, when they sat around the blonde's apartment, finishing dinner.
It wasn't uncommon for them, as they usually went on breaks at the same time, and since Barry's apartment was the closest, they often ordered in or just cooked something quick.
"Hm?" Wally looked up from the notes on the case they were working on, wiping the bolognese sauce off his face. "Never?" He blinked surprised. "Probably 'cuz there's nothing there to do and it's far away."
"How far?" Barry stood up from the couch and streched, before grabbing their plates and cups, stacking them, ready to carry them to the kitchen.
"South, right by the old train station." And Barry said "Oh, okay." Before halting in his steps, when the message actually registered in his brain.
"That's on the other side of town."
"Mhm." Wally agreed, distracted by the notes again.
"...You said you always go to work on foot." He frowned at Wally's grin.
"Yep."
" Wouldn't the walk to work take you like...3 hours? At what time do you even wake up?!"
"Around 5 or 6, and it only takes 2 and a half hours. I know a shortcut." He winked at Barry, before standing up as well, and following him to the kitchen, probably to try and wash the dishes by himself, again.
Barry's eyes narrowed in determination, as he quickened his pace, trying to get to the sink first.
They laughed like little kids, trying to knock each other out of the way with their hips.

They were happy.

___

"I drank too much." Wally stated when they stumbled out of the bar one night, using one another as support.
"You drank a lot." Barry commented lightly, waving at their friends, who also stumbled out, but in a different direction, pilling into a taxi, ready to go home.
Barry hated taxis.

"It's going to be a long walk home." The redhead mused out loud, glancing around the street.
"Wha? Nooo" Barry shook his head, making himself even more dizzy. "Y' can crash at m'place t'night. S'close." He started slurring. Not a good sign.
"Y'sure?" They were heading toward the blonde's apartment for some time now, without noticing.
Barry hummed an 'mhm' before he started rambling about something. He wasn't sure about what, but it was pretty funny at the time.
Wally laughed with him so it must have been funny.

They finally arrived and stumbled inside, still grinning and chuckling and lauging and trying to shoosh the other.
They took their shoes off - with great trouble - and he didn't really feel like walking to the bedroom and the couch was so much closer, so Barry just crashed there.
And he heard Wally flopping down on the carpet next to the couch, so he just threw a blanket down, in case the redhead needed it.

And then they drifted off to sleep, not caring about the hangover they were going to get tommorow.

___

Next morning Barry awoke on the couch, with one sock missing and his coat tangled on one arm, with a blanket draped over him.
With a terrible headache, awful taste in his mouth and the smell of pancakes filling the whole room.
He blinked confused at the amazing smell, when Wally came in, humming quietly, with a plate stacked high with pancakes, a big jug of water and a bottle of aspirin.

The redhead took one look at him, before his face broke out into a smile and he cooed quietly.
He must have looked really miserable, tangled in a blanket, his hair a mess and pouting slightly from the hangover he had.
But soon the pout changed to a smile as well, and they both sat on the floor, to eat.
He saw Wally taking an aspirin as well.
So he wasn't the only who was suffering right now.

Good thing it was a Sathurday.

___

___

"Four people were murdered in the corner of the parking lot." Joe led them into the ground floor of it, pointing to the right far corner. "If you see anything suspicuious let us kno-"
"More suspicious than a lone single car right in the middle of an empty parking lot?" Wally asked, stepping aside so the policemen could leave the area.
Barry looked toward the white car, then toward Joe. The man glanced at it, before frowning.
"You two check it out. Carefully! " he warned them, when they both took a step toward the car. "Don't touch it for now." He waited for their nods, before he turned on his heel and walked over to one of the cops.
Wally quickly pulled on his gloves, before moving toward the car.
"Bear, your sholaces." He threw over his shoulder, and Barry sighed before crouching down to tie them.
"Don't call me 'bear'" He muttered, but wasn't able to hide his smile.
He was about to stand up, when the strange smell reached him.
He sniffed the air, an uneasy feeling setting in his stomach.
"Can you smell that?" He called over to Wally, who was already by the car.
"Yeah." The redhead answered back, before glancing inside the car, through the window.
A newspaper, a map, and a cable. He frowned, seeing it leading to the engine of the car.
He dropped on the ground carefully, craning his neck to look under it.
Shit.

"THERE'S A BOMB!"
Barry's head snapped up, seeing Wally stumbling up, and running toward him, a panicked expression on his face.
The cops on the street heard that and a commotion broke out.
"RUN!" Wally was yelling at him, but he didn't move. He stood there, waiting. He would run when the red head reached him, he would not leave Wally alo-

The car exploded.
___

He was staring at the ceiling of the parking lot.
Why was he on the ground?
Why was everything spinning?

His face felt hot.
Everything smelled like smoke.
The white noise was loud inside his skull.
Wally?

"W-" he rasped out, still staring ahead, wide eyed.
He sat up, his head spinning, but then there was someone in front of him, stopping him from moving further.
Joe.
His lips were moving but no sound came out. Barry tried to look over the man's shoulder, to where he had last seen Wally.
Did he get hurt? Did anybody get hurt? Were there any victims? They should call an ambulance.

"Don't move Barry. You're in shock." He finally was able to hear something. And it was Joe's yell right in his ear.
"W-Wa-" He was not in shock. What was he talking about. He was perfectly fine.
He had to check on Wally.
Joe shifted a bit, and he could finally see.
The car was in bits. The parking lot covered in scorch marks.
Wally was laying there on his stomach, with his eyes wide and glancing around, as he rambled about something to one of the men who were trying to help him.
Three cops were there, trying to keep him steady, so he didn't make his condidion worse.
Barry could see the shrapnel from the car, sticking out the redhead's back.
He didn't know he was trying to stand up, until he felt Joe's hand stopping him again.
"I have to- Wally" he rasped out stubbornly trying to get closer.
He was probably starting to panic now, as he heard his own breath quicken.
He saw his friend laying on the ground, twitching in pain.
He heard Joe sigh next to him.
He was about to say something, when the man next to Wally suddenly stood up and started running toward them.

"Detective!""West says the bomb was controlled by a remote with a short range." Barry tensed up, quickly calculating. "And that the person responsible for this must be somewhere with a bad visuals to the inside of the lot, otherwise they would have set the bomb off earlier."
He felt himself frowning. That made sense. The bomb went off only when the cops outside started panicking.
"Try the buildings to the East. Third or fourth floor." He rasped out, much to two men's surprise. Joe nodded and the cop stayed with Barry, while he went to give orders to others.

Everything else was a blur. The ambulance arrived, and all happened so fast, and they probably gave him something, because he found himself drifting off on the way to the hospital.
Last thing he remembers is someone yelling that they caught the guy responsible.

___

Wally woke up all groggy and confused.

Now that Barry thought about it, he rarely saw Wally sleeping.
They went to bed at the same time, and the redhead always woke up earlier.

He would have been happy to see his friend being so cute and drowsy.
If he weren't in the hospital right now.

Barry managed to get out of the explosion with only a small concussion and his eyebrows burned off.
Wally had shrapnel in his back, a dislocated shoulder, and some burns. He was going to get out of it with some scars, but he was otherwise fine.
This also meant that he had to sleep on his stomach or his side for couple next months.

He saw the green and blue eyes staring at him confused.
"Barry?" He mumbled sleepily.
"Were you expecting somebody else?" He gave him a grin, running a gentle hand through his red hair. Some of it has been burned off, so they had to cut it shorter.
Wally was still staring at him confused.
"I wasn't expecting anyone." He stated, surprized.
The blonde raised an eyebrow.

From what the nurse told him, Wally awoke the day before, when Barry was at work.
She told him that the redhead reacted very calmly, and that he remembered the accident itself to the point of the ambulance arriving.

"Remember that time, around 3 months ago, when I landed in the hospital with a bruised ankle and a big bump on the head because I tripped and fell down the stairs?" He couldn't help but blush embarrassed as he said that.
"Yeah?" Wally's couldn't help but smile at that. Barry was such an idiot sometimes.
"And when I woke up in a hospital, you were there? And you wanted to bring me a bacterial collony instead of flowers, but they didn't let you bring bacteria to a hospital? So you brought over a tiny jade plant in a red pot instead? Because you knew it would be the only plant that I won't kill by forgetting to water it?"
He picked up a small plant then, from the bedside table and presented it to Wally.

It was a jade plant, very similar to the one Barry recieved, but it had a yellow pot.

"Now we have two of them!"  He ginned happily, noticing Wally's tired smile.
"Thank you. But you shouldn't have." The blonde rolled his eyes, but hte younger man once again stared at Barry. "That doesn't explain what are you doing here? The nurse said you were not seriously unjuried." He frowned worried. "Were you?"
Barry raised an eyebrow again.
"Wally. Babe. You're in a hospital. Hurt. Why wouldn't I be here to check in on you?" He felt a little uneasy at Wally's blank stare. "Like when I was hurt? And you visited me? And our friends visited me? Remember?"
The redhead blinked.
"That's not the same." He stated finally.
"How so?" Barry leaned over in his chair, resting his head on his hand.
"You're you, and I'm...me." Wally frowned, seeing that Barry still didn't understand. "...I guess I'm not used to having anyone visit me? When I was younger and landed in a hospital no one ever...cared?"

"How often were you in hospitals?" Barry noted Wally's wince as he asked that.
"Pretty often. Every other month or so." He tried to make it sound nonchalant, and almost succeeded. But Barry knew him too well to fall for that.
"Why?" The redhead exhaled though his nose, and closed off, not answering. Barry decided to drop it for now.
He carefully ran his hand through Wally's hair again, watching him slowly relax.
"Well, we are friends and I'm going to take care of you whenever you want it or not." He commented lightly. "You're stuck with me~" He grinned, seeing Wally smile.
"I love you." The younger man said, his voice small.
Barry leaned over to plant a gentle kiss on his temple. "I love you too."

"Aww. Aren't you two adorable." They recognized the amused, mocking tone right away. Barry turned - since Wally couldn't - toward the door, to see their friends from work, with a bouquet of flowers and a 'get better' card.
"Maybe we should come back later?" One of the men - Tony - asked with a smile, as they all walked into the room anyway.
"What are you guys doing here?" Wally couldn't help the grin that split his face at the sight of them.
"We came to visit our favourite little sapper" Margie commented, showing him the flowers. "How are you feeling sweetie?"
Barry saw the sudden wetness, that Wally's eyes seemed to gain, as he laughed happily.

The next hour was spent on talking and laughing and mock reprimanding.

___

The taxi ride was one of the most unpleasant experiences that they had to live through.
Barry was claustrophobic, okay? He hated cars and elevators.
And as it turned out, Wally wasn't a big fan of enclosed spaces either.

So the entire ride to Wally's apartment was spent with both of them sticking their faces as close as they could to the windows, as they tried not to focus on the awful taxi stench.

The redhead had been really determined to walk all the way to his apartment, and the only reason that he didn't, was because Barry asked him not to.
He was not in the condition to do so.
The doctor said 'bed rest and no working.' and Barry promised to look after the redhead and make sure he didn't try to do anything stupid.

The ride was finally over and they couldn't be more happy to get out of the cab.
Barry paid the driver, sending a warning glance at his companion, when he notice the redhead reaching for his own wallet.

Then Wally gave the blonde his keys, saying that he'll need two hands to open the door.
The redhead's arm was still in a sling after being dislocated, and the wounds on his back were still tender.
He shouldn't be out of the hospital for another week, but he kept insisting he would heal better at home.

They walked over to the old apartment complex, and Barry did struggle with the doors for a while.
Wally's instruction of 'you have to push hard on the door, wiggle the key in, raise the door up slighty by the handle and try to wiggle the key again. Then without lowering the doors, try to ram into them.' left Barry with a sore shoulder and a frustrated frown on his face.
They eventually managed to get in, with Wally constantly apologising for the trouble.

The apartment itself was small and bare and Barry did not like it at all.
The kitchen, the living room and the bedroom were all in the same room, Wally's bed being a stretched out couch.
The younger man must have noticed Barry's frown.
"Don't be a grumpy face. I told you there was nothing here." He rolled his eyes, before placing the jade plant he got on the kitchen counter.
"Wally. You get payed enough to afford something...better." It may be clean-ish - probably because the redhead cleaned it obsesively - but it was old and rundown.
"I'm still in dept after college." He replied, wiping the dust from the counter with a grimace. His stay in the hospital caused the place to become dirty. "Besides I'm saving up my money to buy a house."

Wally always talked about wanting to buy a house one day.
In a nicer part of town, with it's own garden and a white fence around it.
With a spacious kitchen and an actual bathtub.
It was funny to Barry...How they both wanted the exact same thing.
It was a pity that they didn't have the money to do so yet.

"There was something I was meaning to ask you." Barry stated out of the blue, causing Wally to turn toward him.
The blonde walked over, reaching into his pocket and taking out a key.
"I wanted to ask like a month ago, but the whole thing with the bomb happened and you were in the hospital and there wasn't an occasion and I wanted it to be special but I suck at that but move in with me? Please? You already have your drawer in my apartment and even a toothbrush and you spent most of the nights there anyway." He rambled and stumbled over his words, but Wally just looked at him for a moment, with an eyebrow raised and that amused smile on his face.
"...Be honest with me. You were so adamant to go here with me today, only to see what my apartment looked like."
Barry spluttered at the sudden change of topic.
"N-no! ...It wasn't ...the only reason." He crossed his arms over his chest, pouting slightly.
Wally laughed and walked over, kissing the corner of his mouth.
"I would love to move in with you."

___
___

The sound of someone clearing their throat caused Barry to jump up in his seat.
He turned toward the door and saw Wally, leaning against the doorframe, amused smile in place.
Only then did the older man notice how dark it was outside.
"...I missed the dinner didn't I?" He ran a hand through his hair, only now feeling how tired he was.
"Mhmm." Wally hummed, walking over as Barry stood up and streched. "It's okay. We can re-heat it."
"Sorry. I lost the track of time again." He tried to explain, but Wally just waved him of, with a laugh.
"Don't worry about it. I know that being late is a part of your DNA at this point." He gave him a small kiss, before he helped him to arrange the chemicals and put them on the shelf again.
"You didn't have to walk all the way here in the rain. You could have just called." Barry covered his mouth with his hand as he yawned.
"...Bear...We literally live 20 minutes away from the station." He raised an eyebrow at him, smirking "And I did call."
The blonde took his phone out, facepalming at the '3 calls missed' sign.
"I forgot to turn the sound back on after the meeting." He muttered through his fingers.
Wally laughed, putting the last chemical in it's place, before grabbing Barry by the hand and pulling him closer.
"I figured." The blonde couldn't help but smile at his companion.
"I love you." He muttered, hiding his face in the shorter man's neck.
He was standing with his back to the window, hearing the rain fall outside.
"I love you too." Wally grinned, and took half a step back, still holding onto his hand, to pull him along. "C'mon let's-"

Bright light filled the room, before the defeating sound thunder fell upon them.
The sound of shattering glass.
Barry felt only pain.

Pain as his skin started melting and his clothes caught on fire and his hair was burned away and his eyes saw only white and he was still holding onto Wally as he screamed in pain and their screams mended into one and the chemicals burned at theim and it felt like they were covered in acid and the electricity danced across their bodies making them unable to move.
Something burned deep into him, starting from his left shoulder blade, branching out through his body.

And he's not sure if it lasted for only half a second or if it took hours, before he lost conciousness.
It felt like both but at the same time like neither.

Barry was never good at figuring out time.

___

He awoke with a whine.
An actual, pained wail.
His throat felt raw, like he spent an enternity screaming.
Everything hurt.
He couldn't really move. Bright lights just above him, were extremely blinding. His eyes felt super sensitive.

After a few seconds-minutes-hours? He got used to the brightness and looked around.
He didn't want to move his neck, afraid of it hurting even more than now.

He was in a hospital, from what he could see.
The annoying beeping of a heart monitor, the IV stuck in his arm, the pristine cleanliness and the smell of medicine.
The nurse in front of him was also a good hint.

She was very nice, as she walked over and helped him to drink some water.
She was explaining that he was in an accident and actually managed to survive being struck by lightning and was in a coma for over 2 weeks.
He had other priorities though.
"Where's Wally?" He rasped out, interrupting her mid sentence.
She blinked at him, surprised, before smiling and saying that he was in the bed across the room.

So he forced himself to lift his head up, wincing in pain, as he located the other bed, and the sleeping redhead on it.
His eyes roamed over the younger man, noting the burns on his face and the scorched hair. They both probably looked the same when it came to that.
He relaxed only when he saw Wally's chest rising and falling rhythmically.

Then he could listen to the nurse again.
According to her, they were extremely lucky and their quick recovery was actually a miracle.
The two of them arrived at the hospital with 3 degree burns all over their bodies, but after two weeks, those injuries healed quite quickly leaving them with 1st and 2nd degree burns.
No one could really explain how it was possible.
The downside of the 'miracle' was that the quickened metabolism and the fact that the painkillers didn't seem to work on them.

It looked like they still had a long recovery before them.

Then Wally awoke two hours later and the first thing he said was 'Barry'.

There might be a long way before them. But at least they were together.

___

"The stove is broken." Wally's frustrated voice sounded from the kitchen.
Barry paused in his reading, slowly getting to his feet and limping toward him.

Most of their burns healed by now, in 3 weeks only, and they were fine, except of some tender skin on their thighs, chests and arms.
Much to their surprise, they managed to get out of this one without any scars, except for the lighting bolt ones that stayed.
Barry had one on his left shoulderblade, while Wally had it on the left collarbone.

Much to their friend's horror, they found the whole situation funny.
'Lightning never strikes the same place twice' Barry and Wally had said, laughing that it meant that they were safe from any more lightning now.

He saw Wally frowning at the stove, as if his gaze would will the food to cook faster.
"What's wrong with the stove?" He asked finally, walking closer.
"It must be not hot enough or something." Wally muttered "The food takes forever to cook! I've been standing here for like 20 minutes I swear!"
He glanced at the clock to confirm, but paused confused, staring at the barely moving second hand.
"The clock is broken too. It says that 2 minutes had passed."
Barry also glanced up.
"Probably the battery is running low." He said, turning his gaze toward the window "I'll but new ones when we go for the grocerie-"
"...Barry?" Wally turned toward him, noting his shocked expression, before following his gaze to the window.

There was a pidgeon there. Unmoving. While flying. It was literally suspended mid-air, it's wings moving slower than molasses.
They both walked over to the window.
People on the street were moving like snails, the cars slowed down to a lazy crawl. Barry felt actual fear gripping at his heart then.
What was happening?!

He met Wally's worried gaze and they both turned around, running to the doors.
But when Barry took a step forward, he suddenly face planted right into the hard wood.
He fell on his ass in surprize, before hearing a panicked 'Barry' as Wally suddenly appeared next to him, the momentum causing him to ram into the doors as well.

...What.

___

They turned off the stove, put on their shoes and went to the first empty alley they saw.
The rest of the world seemed to go back to normal, much to their relief.

Then they stood at the begining of the alley, ran forward and barely had time to stop from running straight into a wall at the very end of it.
They were pretty much speechless for a long while.
Except being speechless, they also had matching grins on their faces.

Superspeed, huh?

___

The started searching for the man called The Flash.
Barry remembered stories about him. A man with superspeed who used to be a founding member of the Justice Society of America.

Luckily, having superspeed made the job of looking for him faster. They also learned a lot about their super speed.
They met a man named Jay Garrick and his wife, Joan.
And they became quick friends, as the man helped them to find some awnswers about their power.

___

They became superheroes.
Yeah.
It might sound weird, to say it like that.
Barry and Wally would like to say that they had some deep, secret motive that drove them to that.
But the truth was...They simply wanted to help people.
They wanted to make the world a better place, one good deed at a time.
So they did.

They made friction resistant suits, and started stopping crimes.
They worked hard to become better, and while it wasn't easy, they stayed strong.

They became the heroes of Central City, and the people accepted them.
They called them, 'The Flashes'.

They never bothered to find any other names for themselves. Yes. They both were called 'The Flash'.

And it was fine. Flash was a legacy. A symbol.
(It caused some confusion, when they helped to found the Justice League a couple years later, tho.)

___
___

"Who the hell are you supposed to be?!" Wally blinked surprised at the kid who just ran up to him.

Batman had sent them the coordinates to mountain cave, next to a small town called Happy Harbour.
The watchtower's computer recognised a weird signal coming from there, and Batman ordered him and Barry to go and check it out.

In the cave they found a weird looking machine.
Upon closer inspection, Wally recognised it as one of his own projects, that he had just began to work on.

The time machine.

Someone from the future made his own time machine, based on the project that was not yet finished in present times and went back in time?
Yep. A regular tuesday then.

Then a small kid appeared right in front of them - a speedster - and they watched the bright grin on his face be replaced by a confused frown.
He was acting all rude, demanding the two Flashes to 'explain themselves' and they both raised an eyebrow at that.

"How about you tell us who you are first?" Barry proposed with a calming smile, and the boy stopped shaking for a second.

"I am Bart Allen the Second! I am the biological grandson of Barry Allen - The Flash!" He exclaimed loudly.
Wally and Barry blinked at each other confused.
Grandson?
That would mean that Barry is going to have a child first.
And that was kind of hard to do at the moment, considering that neither of them had an uterus.
'Bart' must have noticed their confused looks, because he started to shake again.
"Somethingiswrong! TheMountJusticeisjustamountainhere! WallywasnotsupposedtobeaFlashyet! Howoldareyouanyway?! AndwhereisgrandmaIris?!"
They blinked at him again.
Mount Justice?
Wally was not supposed to be the Flash?
Grandma Iris?

Wally was quiet for a moment, before sighing.
"Look, kid." He gave the boy a reassuring smile, causing the brunette to blink at him "How about you go with us to a safe location, where we can talk calmly?"
'Bart' frowned, obviously not happy about having to wait.

They took the needed precautions and took him to the Watchtower.
___

It turns out this 'Bart' was telling the truth and he was indeed the grandson of Barry.
The problem was, this 'Granma Iris' that he spoke about...didn't exist.
He was speaking about 'Iris West' daughter of Ira West, the adopted sister of Rudolph West, aunt of Wally West and finally, a wife of Barry Allen.
A person like that did not exist on this Earth.

It left Wally and Barry feeling uneasy though.
It meant they were an uncle and nephew in this kid's dimension.

There was a lot of stuff that didn't add on either.
The 'Young Justice' he was speaking of, never existed here.
Wally was 30 instead of Bart's predicted 21, while Barry was 38, just as he 'should be'.

They were pretty sure the kid just messed up the dimmensions, when he went back in time.
Wally, Barry and Bruce promised to help him fix the time machine, to sent him back.

The kid didn't want to tell why he went back in time in the first place, so they didn't pry.
They let him stay over at their apartment, for as long as he wanted.

And somewhere between eating breakfasts together, and taking runs through the country and spending time with each other, Barry and Wally started to think of him as a son.
And Bart quickly got used to the idea of this being a different reality, and he also kind of liked being here and spending time with Wally and Barry and he liked being treated like their kid.

And as they worked on fixing the time machine - since that was still Bart's top priority - they proposed that when he was done with dealing with his dimension, he could always visit them, or...stay forever...if he wanted.

And Bart wasn't sure about the future, but he hoped that it would allow him to come back here one day.
