The hair is done in 3 parts. First I made a base shape using the Gradient Mesh tool. It's to give an indication of color. Then I made a 'Hair' Brush and drew in the dark areas with an overlay applied with a very low opacity. Then I use the 'Hair' Brush with screen to draw in the highlights (again, building from a low opacity). I use a wacom tablet and draw these in very quickly.

Thanks. I do get pretty neurotic about color choice/ placement. I use a lot of screens and multiplies at low opacity and build up the color in alot of places
