I started this one months ago but got sidetracked by work. Done entirely in illustrator CS5 using the Gradient Mesh tool. Not sure how long it took...

Good grief! That's a vector image? That's just unbelievable. I see you used Mesh Tormentor... I'm sure this would have been nearly impossible without. Unfortunately, I've not gotten that tool to work.

I do wonder a bit why you would choose to make this image. It seems like it might have been more practical to use PhotoShop to adjust the original photograph. I suppose you probably didn't have a very high resolution reference photo and you wanted to make a poster-sized print?

It's possible without the tormentor tool, I mostly just use it for node selection at the edges rather than the lasso tool. Most of my earlier stuff didn't use it.

I honestly do these just for the hellovit. They're like puzzles with no solution...
