And now for something completely different! 8D

This... is my first serious bird drawing. I chose to portray a shrike, because... well, I find those interesting xD

Shrikes are passerine birds of the family Lanius (derived from the Latin word for 'butcher'). African species are known as fiscals, a word derived from the Afrikaans word fiskaal, which translates into 'public official' - more specifically a hangman. These names refer to the birds'.. interesting eating habits. They usually impale their prey upon thorns or spikes for storage or decoration, lol.

Shrikes are the sadistic deranged psychopathic horror movie villains of the bird world, lol.

...they are also songbirds and have one of the most versatile voices of the bird world. They can copy other birds' voices too, and some shrikes do so to attract prey. They basically pretend to be a wounded baby bird, only to swoop down on the mother bird when she comes to check on her poor 'baby'.

...

...birds are fun to draw, actually. This was a fairly quick one, but I might pick a bird of prey next time
