Description I love cute fuzzy things! So, again with taxidermy, I made a coat rack! Beware The Attack Rabbit! This is a subspecies of jackalope, the "Jackabuck" which just happens to have deer anters instead of antelope horns. Maybe I'll make one with ram's horns next! Anyway, He'll safeguard your delightful "hang-able things"
The woodpanel I made in Woodshop at school. The rabbit skin was ordered from an awesome dude on Taxidermy.net and the antlers were bought at a flea market. Mash 'em together and I got a fine lookin' gamehead mount.

My grandpa was the one that first got me started on jackalopes (he's a Texan--inevitable) and over the years I've seen stuffed jackalopes, jackachikalopes (don't even ask) and, my personal favorite: A stuffed doe and buck jackalope, their heads mounted in attractive poses.

This is just too great. He looks so fierce!

When I found out that Jackalopes weren't real it ruined My day. Hell. It ruined that entire week.

I just looked through your whole gallery! There's some pretty amazing things! I'm not sure if I'm extremely fascinated or disgusted by taxidermy... I'd love to try it one day if I ever got the opportunity, though. I'd love to own something like this... Kind of ironic and awesome. haha.

Thank you very much!
I love preserving the memory of animals passed.
And It's not that hard to try taxidermy out for yourself. You can get kits from any taxidermy supply shop. Request a free catalog at vandykestaxidermy.com, mckenziesp.com or jonas-supply.com! They can point you in the right direction if you'd like to learn how it's all done!

Lol!
Before I got my DA account I had a bobcat head that had a hole above it's ear, decided to make another hole on the other side, and put goat horns coming out of it! Then gave it doppleganger teef and red eyes!

do you get this stuff like pretty cheap?

Zhon In reply to WormsMakeDirt [2005-10-27 01:38:14 +0000 UTC]

I can usually get the materials pretty cheap (fur and fake eyes). the antlers I can find in the woods or buy at a flea market. And the most expensive item is the taxidermy form (they're sculpted by pros, then cast)

in the folklore of my people (acadians from the north western part of new brunswick canada) we call this animal a

'buck-djeuve'

I've also searched Jackalopes in Google... And the Germans have their version called a "Wolpertinger"
I must take a look at these Buck-Djeuve creatures!

not sure if you'll find something, basically if you take down the word and translate the slangs it means 'buck(male cow, dear, moose or whatever) - Djeuve (lièvre=french for jack rabbit). i hit one once with my truck tho.

Hey, nice mount but the ears need improvement IMO. Jackalopes are cool, I'll have to try one sometime.
