Yes I'm alive, blame uni work for my absence, fie fie to the education system! Ahem. ^.^;; Well, I finally got around to completing this - I started it about two weeks ago, and it's been sitting around on my desk for ages until I finished it today.... well anyway, er, this was my attempt at trying to do a different take on how I usually draw Phoenixes, it's mildly depressing I know but eh, not even the life of a Phoenix is all sugar and roses, right?? ^.^;;; The inking near killed me again, or rather, nearly killed my pencil and my colour pencils smelled funny after not using them for ages, but it all came together in the end. Now I reeeeaaaallly need to finish pics I owe to people.... O____o;;; and maybe get a diary entry in too.....Mediums used in case anyone's interested - prismacolour pencils for the phoenix, ink for the black strands and paintshop pro 5 background. And er, that's it I guess...

The pic is captivating.. i could stare at it for hours...
I want to cut all the black things off it and hold it in my arms.. it looks so helpless, powerful, but weak at the same time.. as if someone it loves placed it there so it couldn't move and yet can.. like it feels betrayed and hopeless.. that it's tired of living and leaving everyone it loves behind. meeting new friends but then lose them to death.

i gotta be honest, it really looks like the phoenix is being strangled and trying to escape from the vicious Vemon (you know the out-of-world organism that turns it's host into bad people on Spiderman -i'm just a superhero fan- lol)
even if you weren't going for that, it's absolutely stunning, i love it!! too bad you dont have it available for print, cuz i'd buy it in an instant :thumbs up:
