Description Here's one for all the Bettie Page, Pin-Up and aircraft Nose Art fans. This is an old piece that I did in 1997, done in Illustrator 6 on a Power Mac 7200!

You have some of my favorite subjects bracketed in this image my friend.I remember in 2001 when I first got a computer finding your work on the net and downloading it.I found some of that art recently in a folder.Who would have thought we would become friends and that I would be the subject of your incredible talent.I want to personally thank-you for your kind work for our miltary and vet groups Don and for being there for me and Luther. He is doing well I was with him this past weekend and he always talks about that image you made of us.If you ever make it back to Whiteman please call and you can meet the subjects of your work in person.
Peace&Respect Jojo

Wow that's very nice looking!
I went to the Air and Space Museum in Hampton, Va several years ago. They had
a plane with a painted lady on it. That was so interesting!

Thanks! I've never been down there, but I hear they have a great collection. The next time I'm down to Williamsburg or VA Beach, I have to visit there.

As allways, wonderful and so on

One thing that is just semi-disturbing is the way lots of the clothes are so thight it allmost look like they're a change of color in the skin more than a layer over it.

Thanks! Back when George Petty and Alberto Vargas were doing Pin-Ups for Esquire Magazine in the 1940's, they weren't allowed to paint nudes, so they would paint Pin-ups with semi transparent outfits to try to get around the censors. There were many times when the US Postal Service wouldn't deliver the magaizes because the censors ruled the magazines were obscene. How times have changed.

Excellent, Don.

1997 was not THAT long ago... I'll bet that the Power Mac 7200 was one of the top machines then.

Wonderful design. The expression on her face, her body with all the amazingly correct shadows, her perfect hands (hands are difficult to draw, aren't they?), every detail here is just right.

A top piece, congratulations.

+Fav!

Thanks Luís! It seems like a long time ago to me, the 7200 was a nice machine for it's time. When I think that jobs I did at work back then would often fit on a floppy disk, larger jobs went on to syquest disk that held 70 or 80 MB. Jobs I do today barely fit on a on a 700 MB CD. How times have changed.

I agonize over drawing hands, they are very difficult for me. Years ago I got so frustrated about drawing hands that I stopped drawing anything but hands and just concentrated on drawing hands for several weeks till I felt confident.
