It's been a while since the last comment, but if you're still around, where did you get the wire from anyway? The stuff I find around here isn't as thick. 16g or 14g would be perfect for me I think.

The wire I used came from a wire forming shop that makes fences, metal baskets and other things from wire. You could also try looking for farm supply shops; 16ga (1.6mm) and 14ga (2.0mm) galvanised steel shouldn't be too hard to find. I prefer stainless steel now, since it's much cleaner than galvy - you can get that from welding supply shops.

Aluminum is a model's best friend. Even the oxidation is preferable to the weight. At least, that's what my models always tell me. Wusses if you ask me. P-ha!

A note on Alumunium: Most peoples skin will become stained upon direct contact with aluminium. Try using an anodized form. That and you can get some amazing colors to boot.

Yeah!
Aluminium is light that's true, but steel is much nicer
