Description Another beautiful scenery shot of a Minmatar Republic space station from EVE Online.

This station is inside my old home system, Saana. It's a small Minmatar outpost in the middle of the Amarr Domain region, and the only space station in this particular solar system.

In the foreground I am flying a Blackbird. A Caldari Cruiser, it's another ship built around empowering Electronic Countermeasures modules and has good bonuses to missile damage to boot. The only problem is its lack of defense, which makes it an easy target in a fleet engagement.
I also happen to think that the Blackbird looks really cool.

I'm sorry, what was that? I can't hear your puny baby-man lasers over the sound of my artillery shredding your ship into itty-bitty tritanium bits. :3

How come a Minmatar Republic station is in the heart of the Amarr Empire?

Gee, sorry, I'm not sure where I saw that rule.

It says nothing about this in the terms of use or the submission policy... nor is there a clear and specific outline of what can be placed into which category.

So, if such a rule exists, it is not properly documented.

Or is this another way of saying that you don't think that screens are "real art", and don't belong in "real art" sections?

But when i report them the Admins have always told me that game screens can be put into scraps....which is where they put them

And game screens are great pieces of art...just not your art

I'll take your word for it, then.

If there are rules like that afoot, they should probably be more clearly documented on the actual upload interface.

I think it's a bit odd to say that the artwork "Isn't mine", simply because it was captured from a game. I mean, is Photography "Not mine" because I'm photographing things that I didn't necessarily make?
I always though of captures from games like EVE to be virtual photography... but I guess there will always be contention.

i was actually talking to the 3d GD earlier about getting a news article up about it....the problem with in game screens as I've always understood is that someone else owns the content of the game, so by posting images of the game you are using work that other people made...and i think more importantly that someone else could sue over...photography has a lot of the same issues with models and stuff...

Yeah, I actually agree with that. It is their content being documented, and they deserve the credit for it.

The problem I see is that what I'm doing isn't trying to take credit for their designs. I am simply advertising their designs with my own artistic representation.
Moreover, CCP's internal design of the game supports capturing screenshots, and the in-game tools provided (Advanced camera options) even encourage artistic presentation of that material.

So long as I am not stealing CCP's actual advertising designs, or claiming the platform used to take the pictures as my own, I am unclear as to how a problem could arise.

If anything, I would think that game designers would encourage the sharing of screenshots in this manner because they advertise the game to people within communities who could be potential players.

I dunno. I can see how it would be an issue of contention, but you can definitely see which side of the line I'm on.

i can easily see both sides of it....i think thats why DA says to put them in scraps....because you didn't really make the stuff so it shouldnt be in the 3D galleries which imply it was made by the user....but they can still be submitted....

I don't think that game screens should be in the 3D gallery at all....but maybe fan art or something similar? I just know that DA doesnt want them in the 3D galleries.....

Why do you care in which category someone puts their work?

well we could just dump the work on the gallery directors...but it's easier for everyone if artists put their work in the right places to begin with

or in this case...put someone elses work in the right place
