Length: just shy of 3"Width: 1 1/2"
Material: Bloodwood, also known as "Satine". A very dense exotic hardwood from South America.
My first carving in the new studio space and since my partner's death in August, and my first time using Bloodwood. So it was kinda intense and cathartic to be working again.
I'm really happy with how well this wood polished with mostly just hand sanding. It also takes details beautifully. Due to how hard Bloodwood is, it required no oil or wax and what you're seeing is just the natural beauty of the polished wood.
This piece is another of my tactile carvings, meant to be touched. It could be a pocket fidget, or I can put a cord or leather thong through the top hole for you to wear it as a pendant.
The back has a neat texture and shape as well.

Beautiful piece and I'm glad to hear you are doing better. I can't imagine how hard it is for you *hug* That wood is just gorgeous and I love all the detail. Looking forward to seeing more from you and if that other person hadn't already snatched it up I probably would have put in an offer too but I'm sure its going to a good home.

There's been a bit of reason for worry, but I'm doing better each day. My new studio is far from fully running, but I have enough stuff to do some simple carvings, and working is helping a lot. :hugs: I really appreciate your concern. It's very warming.
