Aww, thanks!
It took me quite some time to get to this point. With enough patience, I believe anyone with a real desire to could learn to carve.

Beautiful design, adding the colour really brings it out more(it's nice to see a before and after picture). the brown looks more natural with the bone than the black does

Thanks!
My worry was more that the black is MUCH more opaque and might obscure details with the carvings being so tiny on this piece. But I'm very glad to hear that you like the brown.

**Last Comment Edit**
When I said I own something like this, I definitely did not mean the design, I simply meant a hair pin in general. Sorry if I freaked you out at all! Realized how bad it sounded after I hit "add comment."

Love this! I own something like this, but unfortunately it was painted black/green so it does not look nearly as natural as this. Awesome work! You must sell lots of these. You're very talented.
For your photo problems, I would suggest maybe using something like a leaf for a background instead for some of them? It might bring out the colors more and make it look softer. It might help?

Thanks!
The problem isn't background color. I've played with it a bit, and the problem is the way the camera catches the translucence of the brown color. It's seeing a quality that isn't visible in person because of how the sensor collects light. Nothing much I can do about it, I'm afraid.

It's lovely. I also like the coloured ones better than the basic ones. The pattern just pops out. How do you colour it? do you use a kind of paint or powder?

Thank you.
I normally use enamel paints, like what is used in making models, but for this piece I used a high quality leather stain, as I couldn't get the softer look I wanted with the opaque enamels.

You can use pretty much any paint, ink or stain on bone.

Glad ya like it. So, since you liked it without color, how do you feel about it colored versus uncolored?
