Awww. I love bison so much! I always wanted one for a pet, though it probably isn't a good idea.

Some people have ones that had to be hand feed from birth and live in the house etc, but even so they are not fully safe and imo it is better to leave them wild.

As much as I love this image, and I do, the first thought that came to mind was,

"He's got Shawn's number."

They are beautiful The big majestic ones are even more so, this is just a small one too.

Very present and intelligent as well, they have their own personalities. Soulful is a good way to put it'

Wow, what an amazing animal. I haven't seen a buffalo since I was little. There was one at the zoo when I was small that loved me. It would snort and ram the fence when other kids went near it, but it was gentle with me and ate sticks (or whatever it was that I gave it). It was old and already greying. He's probably dead now.

Do they let you be close to them, or is it too risky?

I love the light snow on this one's fur. It looks so beautiful. There's something about the animal that makes me feel safe. Bison carry around a kind of wisdom for me.

Lovely work.

They live a very long time, maybe he is still alive You should come visit me this spring and see the the little baby ones we get on the ranch here

I've worked with them for about 8yrs and I'm able to somewhat safely get near to them without any protection. But there is always a risk, but I can manage it due to my experience and that most of them know me. They are ranched but still very much wild, they are not tame.

The small ones like him and still young and have a warm personality for the most part, they are smart and aware of you and not so different from a horse. I'm very lucy to get to hang out with them', and in the snow it was a good chance to get some good shots'

I hope so, except I don't think the zoo has bison anymore. :/

I would love that so much. Where are you located?

I'm glad they're used to you, and even if there is a risk, I'm sure you know what you're doing.

That's lovely. :]

Thanks Dave I'm glad you get so much enjoyment from it.

And thanks for the support as well, I don't know if it warrants the Mangelsen comparison mine is too impromptu - but looking at his bison photos I can see he has a lot of the same respect for them that I have, and that he is also trying to bring a dialogue with the animal through all the way to the viewer.
