I was playing with trying a bit of a more manga-influenced take on this sketch of MON-EL. At many times during my career, I've read folks claiming that my work has a 'manga-tinge' to it... and so I thought I'd play with that for this sketch. I've done that a couple of times in recent posts.... like the SIGG JONES sketch and a bit in the AQUAMAN piece.Related content

Very nice. Although underpants under the flaps a jacket can never look good. It's actually the thing the brought me most out of the last issue of Justice. Those scaly, shinny panties never look good for Robin - not even when they're done by Mr. Ross.

Mon-El is one of my FAVS. Love Legion...or Legion of Superheroes or what ever it is they call it when they put out the book..Seen a few different titles and story arcs.

I think they are blind... so its a realistic manga person... there is still a manga influnece however small it may be.

There is a manga tinge to this and it's just right. Too many Western artists fall into the same trap as many manga-ka and just copy the stereotypical manga style instead of adapting it as part of an original style. Your work has a little manga influence but it could be the result of anything. The main thing is that all of your work is great.

I see manga influence in the hair and the low part of the body, mostly his foot.
but hadns and eyes are not that mangaish...
I didnt like his foots, and he seems to wear just underwears down there - and boots - ???? lol
well Im not a big fan of superheros, but I liked the fanservice for the girls...
And if you want to make it more manga-ish, clean it a lil bit and ad tones!!
I know a mangaka that has a great style that looks like this, just a lil but, but, he doesnt use the big eye style...

They're probably referring to the smooth linework, expressive gestures, and larger eyes. I've always seen your style as being more "saturday-morning cartoon meets Gil Kane"... but that's just one man's opinion.

I don't know, it seems some people throw the "manga" label around when they can't come up with any other classification to put a persons' art style into. It kinda pisses me off sometimes, anyway, great art is great art, period, and you got it, peace.
