Ah, at long last, I finished my entry (just on time
) for #Disney-club 's "Movies That Could Have Been" contest!I chose to base my story on an idea pitched in 2002 for a movie called "The Fool's Errand", about "a court jester who goes on a mythical journey to return peace to his kingdom." I renamed my version to "Fooled" (like the new trend of "Tangled," "Brave," and "Frozen"), and although I initially thought about setting it in the more obvious period of Medieval England, I decided to relocate it to Renaissance Italy instead, because I thought that would be a lot of fun to design. I think the *Disney morals* of this story are "don't be fooled by appearances," and "never take your friends for granted."
I admit I went overboard in my picture...to be honest I sort of wanted to make this into a webcomic and then remembered I can't draw anything other than characters standing around, haha. But I do think I will draw them some more after this contest is over!
Anyway, everything you really need to know is actually in the picture (full-view so you can read it), and I hope you'll vote for me in the contest! (Or if you don't, at least vote for my sister ~Aidylvice 's awesome entry: [link] )
(P.S. Jangle should be in most of the scenes with Marco but...I'm still learning how to draw parrots. XD)

Well, I closed the site once I put the novel up for sale on Amazon. You can read an excerpt here on DA, and as for this image, if you click "download" it will open to it's full size which is larger. ☺️

LOVE this concept! I've browsed the entirety of this project in the past half-hour, and I'm beyond impressed (and quite a bit jealous)! I'm a longtime Disney fan and aspiring filmmaker (attending college as a film major at the present time); as soon as I saw this stuff, I wanted to try my hand at writing a script, song lyrics, you name it

I think I might take a crack at revitalizing a ditched Disney concept…The question, though, is which one to pick…Maybe I should do something entirely original? I've wanted to be a filmmaker at Disney my whole life!

Yeah. i can imagine it being animated like the Road to El Dorado or the Princess and the Frog, based on everything i've seen.

Funny you should say so, I was inspired by The Road to El Dorado and of course some of the Disney Renaissance films, like Hunchback and Aladdin.
Have you checked out the Fooled website? fooled-story.blogspot.com This deviation was just the original concept, it's grown a lot since then - now it is an illustrated web serial!

This is cute but what makes me frustrated is you are giving Disney Credit for something they aren't even making!
I think you need to put your own studios name on it. I might have posed my Princess Michelle with the Princess and said this is what I"d love to see Disney do but I would never give them credi tin a full out project.
You've worked your hands to the bone on this one I can tell!

Hehe, when I started read this comment I though *I* was getting a tongue-lashing!
No, the reason I gave Disney credit was because this was my first Fooled drawing and it was for a contest where we were making up a fake Disney movie (based on a discarded Disney idea). I put the logo on it because I wanted to make it look as realistic as possible so I could win the contest! Over the past year and a half I've quit putting any references to Disney as I made the project more my own, as it became my brainchild. Thank you for commenting with your support though!

The others I"d have to know more about but I do like the girl. So keep on going for sure! I hope you'll take the time when you get half a moment to see some of my stories. I took down the more recent Mirror of the Soul after a HUGE adjustment that I am still editing. I had to take a week or so off though they thought I had a stroke July 3rd not one we found out quickly but was told to take it easy so I didn't write or read or draw during it Iw as SUPER bored!
LOL I am ok heatlh wise as far as I can tell. I am editing Mirror of the Soul again but iwll let you know when its up!

Okay, yes. I love this. I've always had a illogical love of jester-types who know more than they let on!
Now I'm just considering all the possible amazing songs that have pun titles:
'You've Been Fooled!' the jester entertaining the king.
'Just a Joke' The jester is sad that everyone thinks he's nothing more than a silly jester.
'Who do you think you're fooling?' A reverse song sung by the big bad when he captures and ridicules the jester.
'You Jest' Jester arguing with himself against falling in love with the princess.
The possibilities are endless!!

I had thought about maybe "The Joke's On You" for him entertaining the prince, and "The Joke's On You (Reprise)" for when the villain is ridiculing him, but I like yours too. Too bad I don't really have any snappy lyrics skills!

There's also a book called "Fooled" by Christopher Moore. It's sort of about the jester destroying (but also kind of saving) the court of King Lear.
I look forward to whenever this is transformed into a comic. Or a story (textual) with many, many pictures. You know, whatever floats your boat. I can't wait to read it either way!!

Yeah, I came across Christopher Moore's "Fool" when I was doing some research for this. I'm planning on writing out this story and releasing the first chapter online, kind of like a webnovel, sometime this fall. Don't worry, there will be illustrations too!

You have improved so greatly, this is an insanely amazing and complex piece and a beautiful layout! I love your character design, this seem so fun, high spirited and appears like it could have been such an amazing movie! Either way, I really love that main image of the Fool holding that helmet. I think you should definately submit it as its own separate image, it is just so good and I adore his thick eyebrows and puppy-dog expression

Aww, thank you so much! I had a blast working on this project and even though I made him up, I think Marco won my heart too (the thick eyebrows help him to look more expressive, I think).
Hmm, maybe I could submit the helmet picture separately (I uploaded it to my Tumblr at the time). I've been wanting to draw more art of this crew but I haven't really gotten around to it, so maybe that would be a good idea so people don't forget about Fooled completely in the meantime.
