YARRRRRRR!Splice me poop deck, shiver me mainbrace, swab me timbers, and all the other vaguely naughty sounding shit that pirates seem to like shouting. Yes, I drew a pirate wench-ey lass. I've always wanted a pirate gal character, so, with it being international talk like a pirate day this coming Saturday, I thought I might as well take the time to draw them. As yet, her name is Beth, and her character development is presently limited to; 'likes grog, smells of gunpowder, hates shoes, can swing a sword a bit.'
She's coo'. I like her.

Barefoot female pirates could definitely use more representation, haha.
Gotta say I just found your gallery & you have an amazing talent in general, but also for drawing your favorite subject, feet! And on top of that, you always have the good taste to deck your characters out in anklets & toe rings, which definitely fits their character styles as well. No doubt a fun loving pirate wench, who hasn't worn shoes in ages and plans to keep it that way, would decorate her permanently bare feet with some of the golden bracelets & jeweled rings she & her crew have taken as loot over the years.
Would love to see Beth in action!

Thanks for your kind words there, I'm certainly not shy about the foot thing, and it's nice that so many folks enjoy it!
And yeah, the whole foot-jewellery thing is kind of a compulsion, haha, I can't draw a pair of feet without at least a couple toe-rings.

As for Beth here, you're right! Hasn't worn shoes since she set sail (and probably not worn any shoes often before, either) Β And the jewellery's
just a natural extension of the pirate's penchant for showing off their loot, I suppose!Β

Indeed, I think her disinterest in shoes is historically accurate too. Walking on wet wooden decks, having to climb ropes, in the tropical climate pirates sail in, barefoot was the way to go.Β
