Description
Another ink and pencil drawing I've finally got round to adding a bit of colour to.I've been on a quest to find striped taffeta fabric for a project I might be working on when I get home, so this was just a quick drawing done to relax after browsing through about 60 fabric sites.
I couldn't quite make my mind up between 18th and 19th century styles, so I'm afraid this is a strange mix of the two!

They (I'm still never sure whether to refer to them as he or she!) were such an intriguing character, I'm actually waiting to borrow a biography on them from one of my friends.

Ooh, I want to wear this! Good luck finding striped taffeta. Sometimes when it's not in, it's impossible to find. Have you considered using dupioni instead? Sometimes that's easier to find striped (though different in texture, it has a similar stiffness).

Yeah, dupion is my back up plan. I've found a few places with striped taffeta but they're pricey so now it's up to the client to see how much they want to pay!

That sounds good, where did you find it, btw? I'd like to make myself a retro (kind of 60s-ish) dress with some.

I found a few listings on eBay just typing in 'striped taffeta', and I know of one shop near my home that stocks a really nice range of striped rayon/acetate taffeta.
When I visited the shops for this company in London [link] they also had striped taffeta, so I need to call them and check up on it.
