Well this is my final art from Tokyo Ghoul, and who better to draw than Uta? this was more of an experimental piece though, so I'm aware of most mistakes. Done with soft pastels apart from the background which is oil pastels, and a few other sections with pencils.Hope you like it nonetheless >.<

I haven't seen Tokyo Ghoul yet but this guy has an awesome design

Yup exactly why I was compelled to draw him! in all honesty, the anime isn't that good, and isn't true at all to the tone and 'darkness' of the manga. so no worries if you haven't
Haha I do my best to stay away from digital, I feel traditional has more depth and beauty. Glad you like the outcome though

Tokyo Ghoul is one of the examples where I found fan art so good (Nanfe) I had to check it out, and went looking for the manga instead of the anime. Like I said I haven't seen the anime except epi 1 but yeah the manga is dark, though I haven't seen much of it either (of course, what I saw was a certain torture)Β
I agree with you on staying away from digital, I've seen true masterpieces done with digital means - the things artists can do is mindblowing - but it's simply not my style or method at all and I do not want to go to it. I'm always thrilled when I find beautiful traditional pieces because I too think traditional has another 'weight' to it and because that way I can try to learn something

i don't know i just don't what to feel like chinese people when they see chinese characters tattooed on peoples bodies and most of the times these tattoos doesn't even make any sense...and i really like tattoos and think of them as a form of art not some kind of a mainstream fashion - actually they were back from the 80s in fashion but they rocked! Now, well now its for hipsters and singers like justin fieber....-

Ah, well just don't be afraid to experiment and add all sorts of colours, I mean for my skin tones I used yellow, red, pink, brown, black...
And I just use plain A3 paper

Lol well note that this one was an 'experiment'
And you know normal sized paper? like one you'd put in an ordinary printer? that's A4, and A3 is just the next size up and it's quite a bit bigger. That's all there is to it! I just use A3 cuz I like lots of space :]

You have a great amount of skill when it comes to using several traditional medias and I'm glad you continue training those. ^^
The colors chosen are very fitting for the character but and that is complimented by the great attention you gave to the shading of his face, neck, hair, etc.

I'm barely able to resist the temptation to keyboard-mash my delight onto this comment box. Sometimes it's the only way to truly communicate your amazement, you know? But I'll restrain myself. I have a true work of art here to comment on, and I'm already a few days late to the party (sorry about that, been super busy 
So, your work with color... I've never seen quite such outstanding work outside of a gallery. In fact, this deserves to be framed and hung up, no doubt about it. The way you layer, mix and blend tones, especially on the skin, is remarkable. You have such a comprehensive understanding of both your mediums and their correct application... it's hard not to look at something like this and not see a natural gift. I went to high school with several individuals who had this kind of ability, and let me tell you, I see it in you.
Put another way, this would be a challenging piece to create digitally. You've done it with traditional mediums. It looks lifelike. There's depth to the piece.
Dammit. It's a work of art. I'm truly blown away. Keep on keeping on, my friend, I'm eagerly awaiting your next piece
