The lioness is beautiful ... the impala too ... And much more beautiful is to see him in full freedom ... But photographing the moment that escapes his life because he is devouring it without having killed it before ... It seems to me that you he has very little sensitivity when showing these things and I am sure he loves animals ... there are sensitive people who know that it is normal to survive to kill ... It does not make photography less cruel ... Surely you did several shots of this moment and have chosen the photo in which it is best to see that the little impala is still alive while being devoured ... Sorry, I would never have a hard time to other people with a scene like this ... Go to a Safari and share a photo like this ... I see it so macrabro ... It would be the same as going to a slaughterhouse and showing how to slaughter the calves ... lambs ... The more blood the better ... What a horror!

I repeat... I'm sorry, I would never have a hard time with other people with such a scene ...I do not know who is more cruel ... If the lioness ... or you ...

Humans are the cruelest animals in nature. MikeZ.

This is not pleasant to watch, but it has absolutely nothing to do with cruelty. The lioness is feeding to survive, she just failed to kill the prey immediately. The level of cruelty at hand is hardly higher than that of any animal causing death and suffering for basic reasons.
I think you meant to say that nature is unforgiving, or something like that.

Oh.....I didn't have to know that last part.....so sad.....I thought that lions killed their prey before eating?

Hi I couldn't say if this is normal or not - I was surprised as I assumed it would break its neck or something as soon as it caught it. Maybe with bigger prey they do? Quite sad to hear it crying out as the lion ate it

Yes, I must say that was a surprise to me also.  I had always assumed that the prey was killed before eating.  I do understand that this is the way the life works, however, my sensitive heart couldn't have stood it.   Having knowledge of it is one thing; witnessing it first hand is another.  I have compassion for the lion who is hungry but also for the prey who is the hot lunch.  Not that it makes it any nicer but when death is swift....it is a little bit easier to take.

I realize that I don't make a bit of sense.  And a good reason why I should probably never go on safari.
