Description Two girls from a family of Himba, taken on a tour of their village about 20km outside the town of Opuwo, Namibia.  The Himba are famous for covering their skin in a mixture of (red) ochre and butter fat, to protect against the sun, insects, and as an alternative to using water for cleaning.

Different, yes  The girls will wear 2 braids to the front and 2 to the back, or just 2 to the front.  Men wear a single braid to the rear until they are married...  Its all quite complicated but its a way of recognising their marital status and such.
