I love your holiday sketches! :3 So pretty and fun, as always.
On a side-note, I really wouldn't know, but perhaps the Nazarenos might be related to pre-Christian traditions that were later Christianized?Β
I'm probably over-thinking this, but this costume reminds me of Ustaritz Kotilungorri, one of the characters from Basque carnival, which is a pre-Christian tradition that was latter associated to lent:

Or maybe they're like the Corsican "penitents", who are indeed creepy and who parade all in red during the "holy week", just before Easter: lesalonbeige.blogs.com/.a/6a00β¦
It's most probably the KKK who recycled something that was unrelated to their fanaticism in the first place.Β

Thank you! Oh sure, Nazarenos have nothing to do with the KKK, they are related to a Christian tradition, as you sad "the "holy week".
Me too, I'm pretty sure, the KKK manipulated the outfit that was originally not fanatic at all.

LOL, that's hilarious, i think that you were talking somewhat like this guy www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aKsQo⦠(but in spanish). i have to say that spanish is pretty difficult language to learn (even for it's speakers), i had a ton of confusions in middle school and high school in castellano (spanish classes for spanish speakers) classes XD

It is really nice that They have preserved the history in there. Bit like the Ottoman empire did not destroy those christian paintings in Hagia Sofia. Shame that there are people in Turkey that think Hagia SofiaΒ should Mosque again. That would mean end to those paintings.

How is the KKK viewed in Germany?

It has little attention here since they arent present here. We are to busy dealing with neonazis when it comes to that topic.

Fair nuff. We have them stateside too, but they are just as small and as universally hated.
