Description Taken at the Akron Zoo - Akron, OH

Zheng, the male red panda at the zoo, takes a lot of time and patience to get him at the right moment while being in the right spot. Fortunately for me he looked right up at my camera when I came around before he was waddling on and around his enclosure. Today he spent his time walking around the enclosure, marking the trees and rocks with his scent glands.

One interesting fact about red pandas is that they're able to taste artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and they're the only non-primate known to be able to do so.

you are SO lucky to get a shot if him - so difficult to take a decent shot of that one, thats for sure. he does that scent-gland thing allll the time
