Got stuck at my aunt's house for the weekend... no computer, no access to refs, all this free time... illustration boards and prismas...So I decided to try out my prismas on some comicbook style art... and here's what I got.
The upper body (hands down to the waist) pose was used/reffed from the Phoenix Endsong graphic novel, the face, hair, lower body were all made up by me. *because we all know I can't do fingers that well unless they're reffed.*
Took.... 6 hours... believe it or not... it did. The pencil sketch took forever because I tried like 50 million (3) different poses, then I had to fix the foot, and then I had to ink the basic lineart, then I erased the pencil lines. Picked my pencil back up and then penciled in where I wanted the thicker lines/shading to go and then inked over that. then I started colouring the yellow parts, and then layered stuff, and then coloured more black ink lines/shading over that... and then coloured the rest of it...
the flames were an experiment that failed. I actually kinda like this, I might make prints of it.
Done with black pens, prismacolour markers, and crayola markers.

It is fun to experiment with different poses, whether you use references or not. That way I can stay away from using the same poses :3

I've been trying to do that lately, yeah. Only I have this wierd tendancy that anything I draw faces right O_O I sketched something facing left and it was really hard to do. Do you think it has something to do with what hand you're best with, or it's just a bad habit?

it could be both. I find that drawing the face from one angle is more comfortable and less awkward feeling than drawing it on the other side. But that could just be the way it feels to direct the pencil/pen in that certain direction with you hand.
But yeah, more practice solves everything. :3
