Hey lovely, the other day I had replied to one of the amazing comments you had given to me recently, but Deviantart keeps eating them for some reason. I don't know what is going on, but I didn't want you to think that I was ignoring them, or that I didn't appreciate them. You have NO idea how much they meant to me. No one has ever done that for me before, sat down and given me a REAL rundown on how my art is. And how it could be better. And you are SOOOOOO nice about it. I needed that SO badly when you did it, and man I think I cried when I read them, I was so happy that someone cared enough to help me out like that. I feel like these days art is all people just trying to make money and they don't care enough to help each other get better like we used to! People used to red line for me, once upon a time when I very first ever started to draw ( back then everyone did that for everyone! ) and it helped me get better in leaps because I was able to SEE through others eyes. These days you are lucky to get three word comments. So I am insanely thankful for your comments, they have helped me to no end- and I could not appreciate them more!

Thanks for this! And you're welcome. The internet is so much more of a casual thing now. We're all growing up and our focus has to be on money with the way the worldwide economy is, and our exposure to art is at critical mass (facebook+tumblr+pintrest+reddit+ portfolio websites= way too much). We're no longer 13-16 year olds trying to learn how to make art and socialize.
That being said, I see so much art and so much anime especially that I am overexposed and just focus on watching people I either find exceptional or are friends from "the old days"- period. If a person appears to have created something new or exceptional FOR THEM, I usually comment, because I know this is huge.
I wish I could be producing half as much as I was a year ago, but ever since graduation it's been hopping from gig to gig trying to pay rent and prevent getting treated like shit. I'm poor, underpaid, overworked, and certainly not respected- the last part bothers me the most. So I do my graphic design jobs and keep my mouth shut, and I paint and make jewelry when I can. I've learned it's important to keep the artists working and positive, no matter what they're making. Because when they said, "It'll be hard," in art school I thought they were referring to your will to keep making art for yourself. They didn't tell me there would be absolutely no way to work my illustration skills into anything but freelancing for years or that industry jobs are few and far between because they lived in an older, better economy- they didn't know.
So of course it's all about money. All we can do is try to make time for the other stuff.

Haha, I've done that countless times. I'll find people's galleries and raid the hell out of them saving their pictures for inspiration and come across them again months later realizing I never actually watched them

I choose Illustration after quite a bit of thought. The first year for me seemed to focus more on concepts in art than helping us choose a major- and to top it off I got placed in Conceptual Drawing for an elective. I considered Graphic Design and even Metals recently, but I can't see myself being as driven in either field.

Yay Illustration! The major/classes itself can sometimes be frustrating, and you may not agree with everything your teachers say, but as long as you're pushing yourself and taking suggestions from all sides, you'll do great!
I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend taking Mark Reusch as a teacher as many times as you can.

Sooo... I'm sorta wondering, when you suddenly got the superpowers to know everything about someone without actually talking to them about it. Cause quite frankly I don't remember talking to you about my personal life, so I'm bewildered as to how you were able to come up with a generalization of me.
Aaaaand it's rather difficult and scientifically inaccurate to base someone's personality off of other "similar" (similar not referring to exact copies) people. Sorta unfair yeh? I mean I get to know someone before I compare their insides with someone else's insides.

I'm pretty sure the opinions Bryan discussed with you were not mine. True enough, I don't like seeing my friends hurt regardless of who is doing it to them and if they even realize they are doing it. I have nothing against you, be sure of this, and you were from BEFORE we got to school and remain to be one of the people I wish I knew better (excuse my awkward sentences, spent the majority of last night studying for the art hist exam).
Thank you for having the maturity to be civil about it and inquire beforehand, though; although I realize the tone is sarcastic you didn't just leash out at me like some wild hyena, and I appreciate that.
So no, I don't know everything about you and the comparison made was NOT coming out of my mouth, rather, my boyfriend's, and he's his own person, very much so, so I suggest bringing it up with him. -shrug- And no, I didn't stop the kid from going on the rant and expressing his opinion because hell, I don't control him like that and wouldn't want that degree of control. And Bryan can hate him and I'll still be loyal friends to them both, because I'm outta the equation here, really, until someone asks ME what I think of the situation as a whole and hears me out. Since it's honestly none of my business this probably won't happen, and that's perfectly fine. I'm a quiet person like yourself, and I don't like to cause conflict in the slightest.
