Description MattxLinda for my Open-mind Pairing Challenge! Also dedicated to , who really wanted to see me draw this pairing. Hope you like it, Toys-chan!

This is the first picture of Linda I've ever done. I'm really happy with it because I drew her as close to her original character design as possible and to me she looks just like she should. And all referenced from that tiny pic of her in DN13: How to Read that's smaller than a postage stamp! XD;

Poor Matty seems a little shy to be holding hands with her, but Linda is relaxed. I'd say they're young teens in this pic, and they're at the carnival riding on rides together.

Matt and Linda are from the anime/manga Death Note, and belong to Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

Why regret any pairing? Pair up whoever you like, I say, and if others dislike it they should go browse for the pairing they do like.

It's good to have an open mind about pairings--this way there's a lot more you can enjoy reading because you don't limit yourself to one favorite one!

That reminds me of the MxM shippers lol 'cause OMG MXM IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO and bash MxN and Near. They stress a lot for nothing, I mean, I WILL continue shipping MxN And MattyxNear too (I wonder why many MxM shippers don't even SEE how can go out MattxNear-- IT'S SO CUTE.)

Somehow I can't see Mello and Linda being more than friends. XD Maybe because Mello is a difficult guy, who needs someone who can handle him. Someone like Halle. XP

I usually portray her as a sweet, caring girl. But even if she was tomboyish, I still wouldn't pair her with Mello. It simply doesn't work in my head

Now I don't hate MelloxMatt as much as I used to, but I still don't support it. It's just that some hardcore MM shippers tend to bash Near and Halle, so that made me dislike the pairing itself

Aww...character-bashing in general tends to be an ugly thing. I am trying to get in a mindset to like MelloxMatt at least a little so that I can draw them a picture for the OP Challenge, though, and it's working out all right. *Daydreaming various different fic ideas to try and get right mindset*

LOL; Linda only knew Mello when he was in Wammy's House, she may not have known they were looking for him as a criminal. Anyway, she gave them Near's picture, too.

Thanks, hehe--yes, I drew it from the picture in "DN 13: How to Read". I was too lazy to go get my volume with the actual frame where she talks to Near, so I had the smaller version to work from.

DN 13 is great, it was the first of Death Note I actually bought. It's so great to read the author and artist's opinions on the thing.

I agree--DN 13 is awesome! It's the best "making of" book I've seen in a long, long time, possibly ever. It's kind of like an artbook reference-wise, only at the price of one manga volume! On the downside, the actual DN artbook costs 70 dollars average.

Totally! I loved seeing the character development pages; the ones with sketches of the characters before they were published. Seeing an adult-ish Near and an adorable little Wammy's era Mello actually smiling quite possibly made my day when I first read it. And finding out that Matt originally had glasses and a bowl cut... Thank Jeevas they changed it. Though Matty in glasses would look just as cute as Matty in goggles.

God, I know. So expensive! Probably worth it, though. Obata's art is fantastic.

I love this pairing! Come to think of it, it's the only pairing I really like with Matt (besides MattNear of course ). Minor character love ftw!<3333333

Linda looks great! She looks like the kind of girl I imagine she would be if she'd gotten a bigger role: calm and caring. Also, these to are the closest to "normal" among the Wammy-kids, lol.
