I had to say this because I was starting to get a quench in my stomach while drawing 5th gen Pokemon. This just wouldn't leave my mind so I had to post this. X(

Alright, so Pokemon is one of my favorite franchises (well duh) but I really, REALLY hate the fanbase. And it's mainly do to the fact how the term "over-rated" is thrown around so freaking much. I'm just going to make it clear right now, no generation really is underrated nor overrated in my eyes and they really did get the attention they deserved.

Kanto: (gen 1)
Where it all started. An amazing franchise and the first Pokemon games I've ever played. Back then, I'll be fully honest with you, I wasn't much into RPGs back then but when I started getting more into RPG, I guarantee you, I started to play gen 1 before I even thought about touching gen 2. The game was very well designed and was very fun to play. There are REASONS why it gets a lot of attention mainly due to the fact that it was very fresh back in the day. It's got REASON to like it so much. Yeah, it does have it's fair share of "overrated" Pokemon but so does every other generation out there.

Johto (gen 2)
This is one where I felt most the Pokemon got most the praise they deserved. They also added the dark element as a way to balance off the psychic tree. Other then that, it's the same as the first. Nothing changed too much but the content was still very fresh back at the time.

Hoenn (gen 3)
What people consider "underrated" but I don't see any "hate" go on about that generation. This is more of the "Pokemon had less fans at the time so less people played this game" type of thing. But the people who play it usually give it a TON of praise. They added in berries and double battles but that's just about it. It HAD it's fans and it DID get the attention it got. It's not my favorite but the game did offer enough so I can see the attention it got so therefore it wouldn't be either overrated or underrated

Sinnoh (gen 4)
I see both bad attention and good attention given to this. I personally didn't care too much for this generation do to the fact that the game didn't have a great engine however no game is perfect and I can see the reasons it got the attention. It placed evolutions of the previous generation in order to balance out what were considered "weak" Pokemon and at the same time adding some nostalgia value (it's not always a bad thing.) If it was quicker paced, I would have enjoyed the game a lot more due to the atmosphere it presented for me. I can see the good of the generation but the cons just didn't make me want to play it as often but some people CAN ignore things like that better then others and I can see and RESPECT the fact that they like it.

Unova (5th gen)
Quite possibly the biggest impact on the Pokemon community ever. It grew a large amount of haters and a large amount of fans. Let me just explain. When something develops controversy in the community, then it gets more people to like something. That would explain how this has to be the generations with a ton of fans at the same time, a lot of bitching. It's oddly how it works. This is actually one of my favorites but I do see the issues of this generation. It is a tad bit easy to get through the game but due to the fact how I play games, It doesn't bother me in the slightest. And personally, though this generation does have some awesome Pokemon, I thought the game had one of the best soundtracks in Pokemon history. However, not everyone is going to like the same part of the games I like and therefore they're going to develop a different opinion.

Where I'm trying to get at with this.
There are elements of a franchise that each gen shines in. People are going to think differently and sometimes the cons will get in the way too much for them to enjoy the game and I will see that. I will also see that other generations that I didn't care for as much have aspects that other people like and I'll respect that without bitching how that generation is "overrated"
In short, if you're a real Pokemon fan, you wouldn't bitch at ANY of the generations and just keep childish hate to your-self. Every generation has a fair share of problems, every generation has a fair share stupid Pokemon, every generation has a fair share of underrated and overrated Pokemon. STFU and game.
