Description
A variation on the Eros and Psyche myth.Photoshop, wacom tablet.
This started out years ago as fan art and as I still like the background I redid it with new characters and a slightly different pose. These two are not based on anyone.
I used several references for the background and pose. The wing is from a parrot and the curtain was an old sheet.

the wings are simply a thing of great beauty. they have such a realistic tone to them, i feel like he stole them from a bird.
the detail in the background is simply amazing. the way the light shines on them thusly, the picture in the picture.
it all has a very realistic quality to it that i love. the shading in the sheets and everything. just wow.

I love the way you've used the light here. It makes the scene seem so peaceful. I really like the way you can't tell whether the man (don't know if that's Psyche or Eros) knows if the angel is there or not. The expression on the angel's face looks a little sheepish, like he's stealing a moment he shouldn't be allowed.

Eros is another name for Cupid, and I'm pretty sure you know what Cupid looks like.

Some of these people dont even know who Eros or Psyche was do they..?? 'The black haired one' and 'the angel'? I mean its a classic Greek love story of the most beautiful woman..or man in this case...and Cupid the son and direct decendant from the goddess of love, Aphrodite.
I acutally liked this story compared to most...Although all Greek stories are good.
Surprisingly I dont like Hercules' story because of Hera making Hercules' kill his wife, Megora , and 3 sons.It was quiet sad..and then he ended up marrying Hera's daughter in heaven..It was quiet silly..but it had its good points.

Pretty piece, but I see some problems.
Hm, the lack of nipple on Psyche annoys, as does the odd...flatness is the only way I can put it...to the piece. Also, Psyche's exposed hip/attached leg annoy, for they are female and the rest of the guy is, well, a GUY. And the lighting's all funky! Wtf, man? Too bright for where the window's placed, unless there's another light source. But then you'd need to up the light in the background, and it's not shown, nor is there any other indication that such a thing exists. By that same token, THEY SHOULD BE BACKLIT, DAMNIT! The feet should be in darkness, not blinding light. The curtain looks off, but it could be closer in the foreground than anything else.
And Eros left before morning, silly, so as NOT TO BE SEEN BY PSYCHE. I know that this is a variation of the myth, but that's fairly central to the plot. It's what causes the conflict--without which there would be no plot. No plot, no point.
I like the concept--woo mythos--but the execution could be better.
And I still think it's photomanip.

I do tend to decorate a space rather than create a scene. Hence the flatness, I guess, but then I'm a big fan of painting styles that are more concerned with pattern and composition than perspective. I use light for definition and design rather than photographic accuracy. If this annoys you, fine, but why be so hostile?
The light in the otherwise dark background is merely there to balance the dark curtain in the otherwise light foreground. Straight lines in the background balance the curves in the foreground, vertical in the background vs horizontal in the foreground etc. If I had even thought about it I'd have assumed the presumption of another light source to be obvious.
Speaking of curves, P's hip/thigh is a wee bit feminine but it is one of the few things I retained from my original reference(NSFW) . And I happen to like androgyny.
Psyche's nipple is under Eros' thumb. I could have made it huge, I suppose, but I dislike huge nipples.
As for the myth, it's one I've loved since I was a small child and the point, for me, was that Psyche should not see Eros and that he should leave before she woke. I have him just about to do that so I don't see any problem.
And again, it's not a photomanip but so what if it was? I've done a heap of them and they're more difficult if anything and still a completely separate work from the source.
