This is beautiful! I'm mid reading The Persian Boy for the 5th time. Without a doubt my favourite book of all time and your interpretation of Bagoas is extremely close to my mind's. He's noted for his beauty several times so the presumption is that he's striking but not to the point of abnormality like I've seen elsewhere. This is spot on x

In one his glance are gentleness of obedience & heat of deep feelings. If you saw such beauty once, it's better not to take a look around afterwards. Irreproachable work, real masterpiece. I saw here comment about his face's ratios. After 10 years of studying in Art academy, I still can't see any disproportions. I don't even know how such thoughts can appear in head, how any thought can appear, when you're looking on such divine beauty, beauty, which is dazzling you. He's got so much in common with Francisco & with Mary's Bagoas, but he's also has very strong individuality. It happens very rare to me, that after reading book or/and watching movie & pointing out favourite character in it for myself, I like so much someone's picturing of this personage. He looks just like he should look in my imagination, &, I bet, not only in mine. At real it's very hard to stop looking at such magnificent beauty. So soft hair, that you want to play with it with your fingers. Velvet skin, which you want to touch with your tongue. Deep dark eyes, like two opal lakes, in which you want to dive & sink. And passionate lips, tender coral petals, so magnetic, that you want to kiss them & only them whole your life, to taste their rose nectar. I believe, that even Oscar Wilde himself would fall in love with this Persian beauty, with this alive statute, made of elephant bone with encrusted opals.
It is my first comment to art. I've never left comments after someone's art earlier at all, nowhere. But I could do nothing with myself. He impressed me so much, that I couldn't help giving compliments to him & his creator, impressed me like Ancient Greek sculptures do.

The Persian Boy i have is a hb from the 70s...always been a fav... Renault's writing is wonderfully evocative... have u read her The Charioteer?

What amazes me the most is how his skin actually seems to have texture.
How do you do that?
Is it a brush? Or smudging? O_o what?
The only thing that kind of bothers me about this picture is his nose. It seems a little small, or misplaced. It seems that the lips stick out farther than the nose. So, I should say it looks a little short, instead of small.
But, noses are the hardest thing to draw on the face, I think x_x They always give me trouble..!
Anyway, I really like the jewelry. It looks so real..~
