the colors aren't entirely limited to the spectrums shown, they can be more/less saturated. the only bold colors are on the inside of the mouth and the buccinator muscle. markings are usually just simple countershading, with some variations shown, such as dark coloring on feet/ends of tail, entire face mask is dark/light, no light underbelly, no dark back, etc. white and black are not viable colors. eyes range from almost black to dark gold.
live in desert areas. will spread into more forest/plains regions if in a large enough pack. can be seen alone or in packs of up to ten. size ranges from three to five feet at the shoulder. size is not related to sex.
teeth can flip forward and back, similar to a snake's. they have a strong venom that disables motor nerve functions. hunt small to medium sized mammals. if in a pack, will work together to take down larger game.
webbing between front legs and sides, tail and insides of back legs. buccinator muscle is inflated to use in mating/threat displays. mouth is opened only in threat displays. the male buccinator muscle is shown in dark purple, and the female's in light, with the female's typically being smaller. hand-like paws.
