I LOVE this! I don't think I've ever seen something like it before. It really makes me think that I'm watching some scene out of a nature documentary, which I absolutely adore. This really is a great way to create a night scene, especially when the subjects are animals in their natural environment. Excellent job.

If there is any light source at all, like the moon or stars, there will be shadows. They are difficult to pick up with our relatively poor eyesight, but the night vision will show them as they are. Night vision technology does not emit any light itself, so it does not cast a shadow.
Here's a further explanation if you're interested. ^-^
Night vision, whether technological or biological, expands how much of the electromagnetic spectrum we can see with. This usually means utilizing infrared light, as well as any natural light source, and amplifying it.
Night vision, as it's used here, is using Near-infrared and Mid-infrared light, which picks up the light reflecting off of an object from an outside source(moon, stars, etc.). There is also Thermal-infrared, which uses the infrared light emitted by objects. The hotter an object, the more infrared light it emits, and the 'warmer' it's corresponding color will be on the display. This method does not require any outside light source and could be used in absolute darkness.
