I started out drawing only dragons and they're still pretty common in my artwork. Anthro stuff is another common subject for me. I'm hoping to expand to fantasy humans as well.

I've been doing well overall. I fell into an art block this summer that kept me from posting here. but I'm trying to work through it. Gotta keep moving!

How have you been doing? I saw the speedpaints you posted on twitter and I gotta say - they're freaking fantastic! It's just insane how much you've improved recently.

Thanks so much!  I've been enjoying the challenge of the GSP exercise.  Being accountable for posting everyday pushes me even on the days I don't feel like painting or I feel my painting is lame.  It has shown me that it's worth it even on my worst days.

I want to do that too, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to pull it off.  See, I really want to practice my humans - which, of course, are the hardest things to pull off in speedpaints, haha. (I couldn't just keep it easy for myself and stick to animals forever! |D  ...Why do I always choose the hardest things for myself, gosh.)

Thank you! I'm trying to work though the stuff that I owe so that I can be free to art! Yay! I mean, I know it's "okay" to work on personal art between owed pieces, but I always feel weird working on artwork for myself when I owe stuff to other people (even if it's freebies). I guess it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take me a million years to finish everything. 

EEEEeeeeeeehhhhh. I... still haven't started school yet. My coworkers keep pressuring me into going back for my master's but... I dunno what to study! I guess this is the sort of peer pressure you get when you're surrounded by doctorates all day.  o____o

Human faces do take more time.  I think it's because people recognize flaws on human faces much more easily than animal faces.
And I totally get wanting to choose the hardest path in art, haha!  It's the curse of all ambitious creatives.  We want to learn it all!

I get the same feeling.  I usually feel awkward working on personal pieces when there is paid work to be done, even if I DO have the time.  Plus, I've always paid work and personal artwork equally satisfying.  I rarely find myself feeling negative or stressed when I have a full plate of work and no time to paint for myself.  That's kind of another good reason for the speedpaints.  I make time for myself every day

Doctoral peer pressure!  Haha, I suppose there are much worse varieties.  Do what you feel is best.  Only you can direct your life.
