Description Something I did earlier in the month. Quite a bit different than my usual stuff but I thought I'd submit it since I haven't put up anything in while.

This was commissioned for a quilt. Every bird was done on a different square of unbleached fabric, free-hand, with Crayola crayons so if some of them look a little wonky, that's why. All things considered, I like how they turned out (specially the little guy, 2nd at the top). Sorry that the arrangement of the birds is a little uncreative. I couldn't really think of what to do with them.

Freaking adorable, my fav is the middle one on the top row! <3 The colors are nice, soft but saturated enough to be noticeable.

Thank you! He was one of my favorites too. Mostly in that he's so small. Like I was saying to someone else, I wish the colors could have been brighter but that was the best I could get with crayon. I considered tweaking the colors on the computer but they just looked too fake and I kinda liked the idea of leaving them as is. Ah, well.

I understand. I like them as is, it might not have the same effect if they were brighter!

Yeah. I thought he was a cool a little guy while coloring him. I can't remember what type he is though! XD

These are BEAUTIFUL. They look like they're straight out of a nature illustration book, I love the subtlety of the colors and the delicacy of the lines. Great job!

Thank you. I appreciate that. I would have liked the colors to have been a little brighter and richer since that's how real hummingbirds are but I just couldn't get that effect with the crayon and fabric combination. But my commissionee liked them well enough so I guess it's all good. :]

Oh, it's great, I like them with the really muted colors. Sucks sometimes when your media won't do what you want it to, though.
