When the mists of darkness grow thick,
And you become lost because you let go,
You fall on your knees and weep, ready to give up,
Then comes the light and you hear a voice say, "Take my hand."

A mother cries herself to sleep at night,
Try as she might, it's just never enough,
"I'm not strong enough," she says, "to raise my children alone."
Then a feeling of calm overcomes her grief as He says, "Take my hand."

A pioneer trudges through the snow on bare feet,
Again to leave his home, his temple, and a piece of himself. . .
Along the path his baby boy is buried,
He too loses strength and falls in the snow,
As he's about to let go, he hears the words, "Take my hand."

A soldier fighting in a war most fierce,
Must also wage a battle deep within himself: one of faith,
Yet he's losing the battle, losing sight of the things he thought he knew,
Then he knows, when a voice breaks through his turmoil saying, "Take my hand."

A small girl hides in a closet as she tremors with fear,
The bruises are still fresh from where her father hit her there,
As her tears flow she wonders why she even lives, why no one loves her,
Then she looks up and sees only love and light pouring from the man who says to her, "Take my hand."

A man stands on the edge of a rooftop,
He's drowning from the deep depression inside,
On the edge of his whole world, about to take that fateful, step he stops,
In his head he sees the faces of his children, and he hears a voice say, "Take my hand."

He says to us all in our darkest hours,
"Take my hand, and I will lift you up.
Take my hand, and I will show you the way.
Take my hand, I will not leave you behind.
Take my hand, you are not alone.
Take my hand, I have not forgotten you my child.
Take my hand, for I love you.
All you must do is take my hand."
