Description Epilogue: Akarai was last seen diving off a cliff, arms outstretched, claiming the gods had given him the power of flight.  Eye witnesses swear on their life they saw him fly off into the sunset, leaving a trail of tea leaves in his wake.  It is worth mentioning that they drank tea with him ten minutes earlier.  Reports later came of a fox in a neighboring town who had won the lottery twenty-three times in a row.

Fanart for the amazing of his characters Kari and Shadi with some intrusion from Akarai, who seems to have absentmindedly wandered out of my gallery... whoops? (Yeah, I know there aren't foxes in your setting, but that's just a testimony to how lost he is )

Now, as can probably be deduced from this, Akarai is a guy who... doesn't overthink things.  Or really question people's motives.  And he is slightly impaired with regards to thinking ill of others.  Despite being intelligent, you'd be forgiven for thinking the contrary.  He's also rather scatterbrained and disorganized, with the result that his tea does... strange things to everyone except him (it has been theorized that he is just permanently under it's effects) and no two batches (or even cups) ever taste the same or affect people the same.
Ans here he is about the fall victim to the combined force of Kari's distraction and Shadi's pick-pocketing skills when... something doesn't go according to plan.  Aw, poor Shadi: she was so hyped to steal some stuff, and then this inconsiderate oaf just hands them the money!  Honestly, the nerve of some people -_-

(uugh, my scanner belongs in the scrap heap, it's so old that the lens moving has created scuff marks on the glass that makes that annoying bright stripe across the page...)
And for some reason I had quite a bit of trouble the relative sizes of the characters.  Akarai is a bit of a beanpole, so he's fine, but in the first few panels Shadi was kind of too small (let's attribute that to perspective, shall we?) and then she ended up taller than Kari!

Well, I had a lot of fun with this one.  Drawing middle-Eastern clothing is fun, and as for Shadi:  AAAAHH, those EARS, I love them!! No wonder you love drawing her so much!!!!

I like this one a lot! Your real good at making the expressions look exaggerated. And the characters are none to compare others with.
Great work, and keep drawing!

Thank you kindly!  I have to admit, I like exaggerating expressions; even on pieces I try to keep a bit more realistic I tend to do things like raising eyebrows higher than they actually could in reality to make the emotions come across more strongly.
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement

I already love this Akarai fellow, and I hope he gets some help.

Tallowick In reply to Dukurow [2018-08-02 09:03:05 +0000 UTC]

Akarai is flattered that you'd think that and wants to know whether you'd like some tea
But seriously, thanks! I'm glad he comes across as such a likable character
Hm, "help" is a very strong word... Akarai feels that it's unnecessary and het get's by fine without. Besides, he likes doing the dishes, so why would he hire someone to do it for him??

Haha! This is great! Expressions, shading, dialogue, all perfect! You do character poses so well.

Also, I found it very funny! I think I'm falling in love Akarai

Thank you so much! I try to breathe as much life into the characters as I can, trying to fathom all the subconscious components that affect expressions and body language.

Haha, well, what's not to love about him? I try my best to make him seem likable without constricting his character to a two-dimentional stereotype; basically I let him do whatever he wants, I just record it

What the loon give to these two fuzzy kitten is probably a small bag of catnip rather than tea.

Tallowick In reply to N-P-Wilde [2018-07-17 17:48:22 +0000 UTC]

Weeeeell, I mean, the definition of "tea" is pretty broad.  Technically, you can brew a type of tea from pretty much any leaf, and there is a very large chance that it contains catnip, among other things, but the chance is just as big that it does contain actual tea (among other things.)  And he's a pretty unorganized guy, so he likely mixed up his tea jar and his cinnamon jar, accidentally put mustard in the cinnamon jar, forgot that the mustard actually had bay leaves in it, misidentified catnip as bay leaves, may have stored beer in any number of those jars at some point, probably mislabeled everything, assumed everything is mislabeled and ended up assuming that the jar that said "tea" didn't actually contain tea while it actually did... So really, it's hard to determine what he gave them, but they seemed to enjoy it! And at least he had good intentions

And thank you so much for the favourite and the watch!! It is greatly appreciated

Well, I'm really glad I'm not the only one who found it funny! Deep down there's a part of me that suspects that people look at the things I find funny and just pity me... BUT I DON'T CARE! I'd much rather run around, distributing apocryphal tea, than stand around and judge people XP
Thanks for the comment!

Apocryphal tea I like that term. Now I'm imagining those tea were perhaps harvested from some lost Mesopotamian garden (which might or might not have existed to begin with) which is why it comes without labels

Tallowick In reply to elzataerinn [2018-07-18 12:17:14 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! Harvested from the fabled hanging gardens, this tea was much too special to keep in regular jar labeled "tea", but he didn't have a special tea jar, so he emptied the parsley jar to make do, then emptied the pepper pot to store the parsley in, stored the pepper in the pistachio jar, etc. Until he somehow made a full circle, and now he cannot recall where it is... So he likely mixed everything together, with the reasoning that the mixture would without a doubt contain said tea, among other things.

I kinda dread to imagine what could be in one or two of those jars he uses that way

Oh, have no fear! Akarai may have a mind like a grasshopper in a wheat field, but he's not wreckless: he keeps the peanut butter WELL away XP

Wow! This looks amazing-i like the consistency of the character's appearance throughout the panels. I love the expressions on each character's face as well!

Tallowick In reply to Firenz123 [2018-07-17 15:44:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! To be honest, I had so much trouble with consistency, and to me some of the characters look barely recognizable as the same person across some panels Thanks, I feel like I managed to portray how they feel quite well with regards to my mental image (for once)

Hahaha oh my goodness! This is amazing!   Holy crap, it must have taken ages! Thank you SO much!

The expressions here are just glorious, there's no other way to describe them! XD I love how disappointed Shadi is by the whole thing, since all her fun was spoiled, and how enthusiastic Akarai looks!
The final panel is just amazing, seems Kari and Shadi had quite a good time... and as you said, the EARS!!! XD You dis such an amazing job with the ears!!

By the way, this is Kari's first official fanart! Hurray! Thank you so much again for this, I love it!

Pshh, it took but a week And what is a week between friends? I need to learn to draw faster...

Thanks! To be honest, I think I've had my fill of surprised/confused expressions for a while XD I also found there is a very fine line with Shadi's ears: too short is heresy, and too long makes her look like a rabbit, so that took me a while to get used to!

Glad you like it! Well, now both hobocats can get the recognition they deserve

Holy crap, a week?? That's a lot of time, and it makes sense for so many panels!   Again, thank you SO much for taking the time to draw this, it's amazing!

Haha indeed, the ears need balance!

I love it! ^^ And indeed, they deserve it! Poor fluffs.

Nah, I just have the work ethic of a bryophyte I forced myself to do at least one panel a day, and usually sketch the next. It has done wonders for my workflow!
