Description Trying a new technique out of the blue - once the drawing is finished, I use a very fine pen and the light table to copy it over and then go over the lines to get the variation on the weight, and after scanning I crank up the contrast to make it look more like ink. I like the clean effect and the strong look, which I can't get with the pens (and I like to draw by hand so I won't get with photoshop).

Also, moving my figure drawing one notch up, trying to get more dynamic poses, more expression, now that my anatomy is getting a bit better.

And of course, my drawings would not be complete without a dog
This one is not one of mine, I don't have a pit bull, and most of the Pits I know are really sweet critters.

Aaaaah yeah, his hair... gotta be the stupidest hair I have ever drawn! I haven't figured out my "hairstyle" yet, so I am testing different styles. That fringe does not work, I think.

materials: cheapo Wal-mart 0.7 mm mechanical pencil and cheapo printer paper, LOL

Really cut pic! The inking looks great! especially around the bottom of his shirt.
Good job!!
Also, I don't think the hair looks bad at all! ^^

Hehe, that is so adorable! I hate it when my golden retriever. He's very large and...yeah...looks like an anime sort of style, very neatly done. I love the expression

Overall great anatomy, I particularly like the dog, absolutely perfect. Wonderful expression and movement on him. Great pose on the guy (although I have to admit I thought it was a girl first). That fringe of hair does give him that girlish appearance, I believe, but anyways, nice hair except for that little gender confusion. Only thing that really bothers me is how his jaw does not seem to be attached to the skull in the 'usual' way with no real jawline at all. The lack of a defined jawline adds to the girlish impression, I believe. Not sure if the nose tip reaches a bit far to the left. Overall nice technique, interesting style and great picture. Hope you can agree with me on some of what I said, but then, I might be wrong and just have fun and keep drawing.

Yes, I agree with many of the things that you said. I have since re-done the hair without the fringe, looks better but the paper looked dirty so I haven't scanned. The nose is a bit long, but I did not want his face too flat. As for the chin... I never thought of the jaw outline, may try that and see.
Do you think his hands are kinda girly too?
I have since done two more sketches with "him" in a different outfit (long coat, turtleneck, baggy pants with still with cowboy boots), and by gawd, this time I am doing a background as well! I may turn him into an actual character

Mmh, the hands look pretty gender neutral to me, they definitely didn't catch my eye as either particularly masculine or particularly feminine. Hands are just hands to me, I suppose.

Nice drawing even for the preliminary stages. Your idea sounds interesting, can't wait to see it done!

WAAAAH! It's a HE! don't worry, you are not the first to think it's a chick... it must be the long hair.
Not really sure if I will color, I am painfully slow at coloring, and right now I am working on my drawing skills. I have used the same general character design in a couple of more sketches and may color those on the long run.

This is really cool! I like how you shading her hair--looks like it's actually got body to it. The folds of the clothing are really, REALLY well done as well. Great job!

Nice. This reminds me of our relationship So yeah, you did one hell of a job on the anatomy and the overall sense of movement in this one. His hair? I thought it was a chick at first, then I noticed the lack of boobage... A style of hair that might work for this style of drawing might be something a little less blocky and more flowing and separated, with more defined strands. I guess something a little sketchier, made clean with individual strands. Just a thought.

LOL you mean the bitch at the end of the leash while the master screams at it to behave? ROFTL!!!!
Yeah, the hair was a failed experiment, I have been trying different kinds and I can't say there is one that works for me yet, but hey, I am mastering hands and by Jove, I will master hair too! You are right that individual strands might look better... well, that is one advantage of pencil over ink. I can always erase and do over.
