Ami must be late catching a train!I did the drawing mostly for pose and hair practice, and then finally got my chance to crack my Prismacolor pencil set open. Writer-san is always complaining that I never get Ami's boobs big enough, so I hope this is plenty for him :sweat:
It finally looks like I am more at ease drawing Ami; she has been awful difficult to get right. Looks a bit childish on this image but it was too cute to resist posting.

teehee no, not crap, much appreciated. I was wondering who was going to be the very first person to spot the toes, and it was a narrow race between you and Screaming Roulette. I hated to notice that after I had posted it, I was like "how in the world did I miss that", LOL!!!

I like this one, the colouring looks really nice, the soft tones are pretty, especially in the hair.
The first thing I can see that bothers me though is the textures. The way you've shaded the hair is really lovely, and the rest of the picture looks bland in comparison. In the hair you've added a subtle hint of the individual strands here and there, why not do the same in the clothing and add a hint of stitching?
I'm not too sure if I like the big boobs, but that's probably because, as you say, she looks kind of childlike. I think its also because of the thin waist. In real life, thinner women generally have smaller breasts, and because Ami is slim with large breasts [and judging by their shape they don't sag in the slightest] it makes her look a little unnatural. If she must have bigger boobs, perhaps you could play around with her other features. Try making her hips and stomach a little larger, or add some natural sagginess to the breasts - I don't mean the sag that comes with age, but just the natural sag that affects all non-breast-implant women's boobs a little due to gravity, unless we are wearing an ultra-push-up bra! ;D
When you draw, do you start at the top and work downwards? When looking closely, it looks as though thats what you've done here. The colouring and line work at the top of the image is very nicely done, but travelling further downwards it seems to fade away, as though you slowly lost enthusiasm. The outlines around the head and hair look much neater and nicer than those around the legs and feet.
Another thing I think this picture needs is better cropping. There's a lot of empty space around Ami that not only makes it difficult for some of us with smaller monitors and resolutions to scroll up and down and look at the image, but also makes the figure appear to be smaller and less strong than she deserves. By cropping closer to the figure, the eye will be able to concentrate on the center of the image much more easily.
Similarly, I'm not keen on the colour gradient background as it seems pointless and distracting, the direction of the colour fade causing the eye to travel in what is perhaps an unnatural direction, and taking focus off the foreground. I'd suggest instead a plain background in one colour, subtly enhancing the mood without being overly distracting.

tee-hee her eyes are a bit different, in the manga version she occasionally can look evil... or really determined... that's why her eyes are a bit angular. In this version they are really quite large for the uber-cute effect, just playing around with proportions to see how they come out

Thanks! you should try the Prismacolors. I got this set for X-mas and they are really quite nice and not expensive. I probably will use them more for practice drawings like this one, because I get way lazy with PS - too time consuming! At least I can use the pencils when I am watching TV. Thanks for the compliments! She is a bit too cute on this pic though, on the manga she is more adult

She doesn't look like she should have big breast, however I don't know much about the character no more then this pic right here.

Large breast can make or break a character. Try being more straight forward with you write. Tell him/her what works.

It appears to be mostly soft colors... I got a big box set as a gift for X-mas and I got too lazy to use it because none of them had tips, LOL... I had to make my boyfriend sharpen like 50 pencils ^-^
Well, actually in this case the writer is right, she has the kind of personality, though personally I get shy about drawing balloon boobs so I will only go so far (noticeable boobs but no melons). It's just that I get shy about doing them. Gotta loose the fear of sexy gals.

Yeah, I got kinda of the same thing I guess thats why I don't draw tons of Female and post them I feel almost any female will draw attention and thats not the attention that I aim for so I hold off on it.
Wow thats amazing to me. I been busy running around trying to get stuff started here and there. Haven't had much time to draw much. So I been a ghost here but not here.

well you are just going to hafta draw some girls! Yeah, it is a sort of personal issue with boobs, I don't like pneumatic females unless it is a caricature or an overexaggerated character. Like many men don't like the overly pretty boys.
I am gone until the 20th! a bit of a flying marathon just to spend a couple of days with the folks. At least I can take my drawing stuff and do some pages on the airplane, if I can get over the issue of people looking over my shoulder

I have about 14 pages storyboarded and about 3 semi-pencilled, I am going off to Spain on vacation and plan to do some drawing on the plane... it's over 12 hours each way... then I will have to do whatever corrections and ink... and send to the toner... Probably still a few pages to go to finish the chapter and we don't plan posting anything until chapter one is reasonably complete. But at least it looks like we are well on our way. I have a couple of pages I am very happy with but they have spoilers so...

ah yeah. that's cool. i'm working on a graphic novel for Ben Avery now. I've almost finished page one. don't know if i'll be able to post it though, seeing as it's work for him. I've thought about posting some of my old work. i have quite a few comic pages done of other comics that i've worked on. some are very good. if i can make myself do it, i might post some of them.
