Description Yes. PLUSHIE Zyreus and Fayza . :> And now I recommend you to read this whole process, it's a quite...interesting.

So, about a week ago, last Thursday I went a couple of days sleepover visiting to ~Merlen 's residence. At very first, she gave me an early X-mas present - Fayza plushie! I was just like o.0 and ='D and so... She had got the idea because once I said I'd like to make a plushie Zyreus and when she found that purpleish furry fabric (PERFECT for Fayza's mane) she decided to astonish me once again. xp

Well. Then I got a HUGE inspiration to make Zyreus right now. Next day we ran around the city, looking for textiles and so. Luckily there was both white and blue fur fabric (every time you can't find them!)
.... But. Problem #1: Zyreus has YELLOW eyes and seems like it's impossible to find yellow plushie eyes from this county. We found like everything else but not yellow ones...or every fitting colours were too small. I bought brown eyes and thought oh well, better this than nothing.
But then - random LUCK #1. When I was leaving on Monday and my train was about to leave after half an hour and we were hanging around the railway station, I saw this little needlework shop there. I wondered should we take a look inside. We did. And there was transparent eyes which were big enough. :D I could paint the other side yellow and Zyrre would get yellow eyes. Yay!

I came back home then, and started to make Zyreus. I thought I could go to the (my home)city tomorrow (Tuesday) and buy everything rest I need, like blue fabric paint. ... It would have been a way too easy.....
Problem #2. Our current sewing machine hates me. I never had problems with our last over 30-years old machine (I got it to my student residence...it works but it's about to break soon) but this cheap noisy thing...it just DOES NOT WORK. At first it refused to sew anything, then it got stuck, THEN (and this is a curse) its lightbulb just dropped down. Just...HOW?! I just TOUCHED that machine and it drops its BULB. <_<' ....... My dad helped me with that thing then, and I got my mental healt back too. xp
Problem #3: The art shop where I should have bought the fabric paint was on vacation! Nice. I WOULD have bought all necessary from Merlen's homecity but no, I thought I'll buy them from there because it's cheaper (but I'm under Murphy's law...). I found some other fabric paint but when I tried it, I saw it was a way too dark. ...
Luck part #2: I found blue fleece for Zyreus' head feathers - I had bought only turquoise fleece because I thought it's dark enough but I started to regret it. I have TOO good eye for colours. xp

On Tuesday I got the main plushie finished (look at my home-home room during the sewing process ...such a chaos...) and today (Wednesday) I hunt the epic fabric paint...from another town far away enough. xp I got my dad's car and drove to Rauma - I remembered I once found one good art shop from there and luck #3: it was there and open! Besides (#4 luck) fabric paints were in special offer. I got blue and white (to mix light blue I needed) and one silver just because it looked nice. xp
On the way back to home I went to see my grandparents... Granny was a such surprised what I do there alone at this time of the week...and then she offered me too much food. |D

And then I came home, painted Zyreus (mom didn't like when I used her best hairdryer to dry fabric paint. xp) and took some photos. My inspiration ran out, I had to struggle with many little things and I had to run much AND I still have fabric hairs in my mouth...BUT THIS WAS WORTH IT. Not only the plushie itself, but the fact I seeked and I found things - that's fun you know. |3 ... So, this latest week (...seven days...) has been one of the best in my life. Kinda. Nothing bad has happened and I've had something to do. Just simply but NICE life. :3 (Thank you Merlen, you've better not to stop your random ideas because they CAUSE another things. xp)

...
Plushies are made of fleece, fur fabric, felt (Zyrre's purple feathers), fabric paint and plastic eyes...and some random inspirations, coincidences, fails and successes.

Whoa... what a journey it must've been. Oh dear... sewing problems, yeah, I would have that problem too when it comes to some of my plushies. Two weeks ago I had to sew up my Merknekomon plushie on his back cuz it was ripping off and I asked dad where was the sewing kit and it was in the kitchen and I stitched him back up with thread and needle. I must admit, the two plushies are so cool. Wish I could make some plushies myself... if I could afford the materials!! The materials here in N.Ireland are so expenisve and the only best city I could get them is in Belfast but it's very rare for me to go there in the first place.

I don't know what's the fabric situation in other countries...here we have many fabric shops with all basic fabrics... Some are cheaper, some more expensive. |p I don't think fleece is too expensive

You, my friend, have amazing plushie skills! I was just thinking "hey, that little Zyreus would make for some great merch!" and, lo and behold...GRYPHON PLUSHIES!

Although Fayza's cute, I must say that I absolutely dig your work on Zyreus; the stripes (you said you painted them on, yes?) and beak look extremely well-done. Certainly better than some of the things I've seen in the States...

Zyreus looks so shocked. >_>

Fabric paint is nice, so is cheap tape. |p I taped beak and hoof lines before painting so at least they look nice.

He's with a crazy gryphon(ess?) that put a spell on him. I'd be shocked, too...."O_O Fayza, WTF are you doing here?!" Or maybe he was just caught stealing someone's cookies; use your imagination.

The effect was...effective, to say the least.

I´ve read everything and have to say: Oh dear |X Building a plushie can be an adventure |X

OH DEAR. And now Zyreus even get abused in the real life. That poor gryphon will never get his piece DX Cursed with fayza until eternity.

Watever. Plushies are nice :3 Yes that purple fur fits indeed x3 And what a nice christmas present <3 Nothing is more great than gettign art or even hand made plushies :3 Unique things you can´t buy anywhere are the most great presents <3

For the fact that you´ve painted the eyes your self they look just awesome :3 And if I use not that overused awe-word then I really mean it |P Those eyes are preeetty <3 Same for the feather crow by the way.

And like always... I have a question to the making of |X With what exactly did you filled Zyreus? The forms are pretty symetrical, no waves or holes inside of body. I´m just curious |X

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sysirauta In reply to Royal-Manda [2009-10-21 22:43:06 +0000 UTC]

Adventure. ... Hey, that's exactly the right word. |D

I did Zyreus a quite fast, though, I'm still confused I really have it now. <.<
... I really don't know what to give back for Merlen. ._.

Yellow eyes are plastic eyes, just transparent so if you paint the backside, it shows up well through the transparent plastic. :>

Filling is...that white fur fabric and fleece. All the shearings (and purposefully cut fabric pieces because I hadn't enough shearings) aaand some weird stuffing-stuff: cotton and gladwrap chaff. I don't know where that has come from. ._. I should ask my parents tomorrow...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Royal-Manda In reply to Sysirauta [2009-10-21 22:55:45 +0000 UTC]

That´s great |X You built something buy your own and then can´t realase it is now there |X

That gift was really way to nice .v. A Fayza plushie <3 (And you even mentioned you wanted to have some plushies that deeply much. And then Merlen did one. Just too nice x3)

With other words: You filled your plushie with random things? o__O dear. I´ve read many internet sites with turoials like "how to do"-a plushie/puppet and what so ever. And always it was said that the filling stuff is important. MoA uses random things and get nice results without having needed to buy expensive professional fill-in stuff.
Oh dear.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sysirauta In reply to Royal-Manda [2009-10-21 23:02:14 +0000 UTC]

Random filling works. |3 At least for fleece and fur fabric. But sleek fabrics like satin would need some not-this-random filling, I think.
So if you think to make a plushie, use fleece. It's nice plushie material and a such cheap...and it can be found in many colours.

...Zyreus stares me here and Fayza seems planning something... ¬_¬

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Royal-Manda In reply to Sysirauta [2009-10-21 23:19:31 +0000 UTC]

Fleece. I´ll keep that in mind |X

Beware. If you have new plushies in your room with realistic looking eyes they can cause a bad "being watched" feeling |X And it will need a time until it disappear. I still don´t like it if costume had looks at me. And it´s finished like that already since febuary |X
