Sweet! Too bad that building on the right is so close though, as it's a wee bit distracting. So much that I just had trouble spelling the word "distracting." Oh wait, that was a mind-fail...

Distracting it may be, but look up more photos of the Manhattan bridge and you will see this building is a common part of its photos from the Brooklyn side.

Considering how harsh the sky is, this is pretty damn good. With those kind of highlights floatin' around, I think you're lucky to get what toning you did for the sky.

There was a lot of play in RAW editor in this one.

DUMBO's most famous view. Love how it came out.

Also, because I didn't make this clear, I really rather like this image. Just in case all the crit (hey, you clicked "advanced critique" ) obscured it.

Don't be afraid to make an honest critique. I wish more people on this site would critique like you just did!

In case your wondering, I have shot this scene at night once before, but unfortunately didn't frame the state building in the bridge supports. You can find that shot here. I'm gonna go back and re shoot this scene again sometime during a sunset and hopefully that will help me balance out the highlights in the sky a lot easier. Also, I'm gonna do it with a tripod next time. This was shot hand held.

Again though I highly appreciate the comment. Thanks for the words!

I didn't even notice the Empire State Building until I read the comment! Would it be possible to darken the blue of the sky some so that it stands out better?

I rather like the quasi-symmetric composition, but I'm wondering if it might be stronger with more of the left-hand building showing. On the other hand, that might throw off the symmetry, I don't know. There's something that minorly bothers me about that very thin bit of the building near the top that's showing.

Would it be possible to shoot this either earlier or later in the day, especially on a day with smog? I bet this would be gorgeous with red sunlight.
