Description Here is the revised version of this: [link]

I didn't like the version with the photoshop stars so I deleted it and painted stars on the original, nearly ruining it in the process.

This is the final version! I'm not messing with it anymore.

It suprises me that this didn't get more favorites. I spent several minutes simply looking at this, all the weird little details and pieces that make it such a fascinating piece, and greatly admiring the imagination and patience it must have taken to execute this.

It is a terrific paintimg, and thank you for posting it.

How old he must be...

Though he doesn't have the terribleness of a Cthulhu or Azathoth. He seems more conscious, and acquiescent.

I really enjoy it. The watercolor really brings out its character. There's a sort of inner light and life happening...

On another note, there seems to be two faces. In relation to the figures, the small earth-object within the body is where the brain would be on the back creature, and is where the heart would be on the humanoid figure. The duality of God, perhaps?

hmmmmmm... interesting!
Never seen God in such a cool form, it makes sense, he created nature, and so It would be cool if he was covered in leaves and such like this

Kudos

Out of all the artwork of what people think god looks like, yours is the best I've seen (even Michealangelo's). What medium or mediums did you use? Excellent job.

is that pangea? I was suprised when I saw this, from the look of earth to the cosmic dust reflexion of space & stars, to the mini earth inside the god, to fungus, and what seems to be a yin god of normal unreal definition. pieces of life. very nice, I do wonder what if any mythos this is referenced or mirrored from/on? I saw it, and it reminded me of a book I read as a child about a good giant, who helped fight evil ones. I like that you made the planet it's on nature, and the pose. Great work, you def deserve the DD. Congrats.

Wow...that picture has a very...eerie quality to it...unearthly (clearly), but somehow very lost and sad...s/he looks mournful, as though regretting something...or maybe lonely (as I'm sure being God must be)...it's really quite inspiring. It really tugs at me - makes me want to write something about it.

he probably finds us grotesque..

but i love this.. for that facts that it not at all how we believe it is, this is its close to home because i'm always complaining about how we're so vain in thinking that we were made in "God's image", i love this whole image, and i love the way you potrayed God, he's so organic. and eveything-looking

stinkywigfiddle In reply to xXxlady-cymateranxXx [2004-09-04 21:23:15 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more like we created God in our own image.
I've also heard it said that we are created in his image in that we are imortal souls like god, or that we are part of god. Or maybe god is nature and we are formed by nature. There are lots of different ways to look at it. You can interpret it pretty much however you want.

xXxlady-cymateranxXx In reply to stinkywigfiddle [2004-09-05 04:38:07 +0000 UTC]

aww yes the analytical psychotic perspective, we created God in our image.. immortals souls, oh thats ideal. God is nature... that make sense with how your piece is illustrated

i'm very confused about the subject of God.. it so abstract and far from me, and i guess with alot of the population as well

congrats on the DD we are intrigued by the unknown

I don't know why but your comment caught my eye. And yes, I'm sure he does find a lot of the things we have done grotesque!

Anyway, I personally feel that we really aren't in God's literal "image" because God's a spirit creature and he wouldn't have a image like us. I think we were made in God's image in the way that we were made to reflect his qualities like love, kindness, etc., unlike animals.

The portrayal of God in this picture reminds me of Treebeard from LoTR for some reason!

oo i my comment feels special.. it caught your eye

yes he does look like treebeard... i would use "organic" as an adjective to describe treebeard, wouldn't you?

oo sophisticated way to express that, i'd just say dumbly "God is everything good in the world, hee hee"
