Wow, thanks for sharing so much of your info. I love so much of your work, that i've often wondered what all you use. To think that you have an office job & still have time to make seemingly frequent trips to the zoo(s)!

My family just recently found out about an organization here in NC called the Carnivore Preservation Trust, which is basically a rescue organization for animals bought by stoopid people that think it would be cool to own a tiger. (Well I'd love to have one, but I live in reality-world!) Anyway, take a look at the site - it's not as fabulous as your zoo, but it's a really worthwhile organization, maybe you'll shoot there some day... Oh, and I only found out that leopards love the smell of flowers from exploring CPT! (neat). [link]

Thanks again for your kind compliment. I have several hobbies, but photography seems to be the one thing I'm enjoying the most at the moment. People ask me about the photo equipment that I use almost everyday so I finally got a chance to upload this image.

About the CPT, I think it's wonderful to have concerned citizens to rescue those exotic animals. Unfortunately, there are people with too much money to spend and no common sense. I met a lady at the zoo last year that told me she was awaiting for her seventh-generation bengal tiger to arrive and how excited she was... It's hard to believe people actually keep such large cats as pets without considering the danger, not just for themselves but for the cats too in case they get spooked.

Hmm all of this must be..kind of expensive I mean..

I only have a $650 camera and think it's super amazingly expensive..but all this..oh god. I wish someday I had that though..yes yes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sooper-Deviant In reply to Nini-minou [2008-02-17 21:18:48 +0000 UTC]

I started with a 2.1MP pocket-sized camera (used to take this actual photo) then upgraded to a new 8.0MP... Before long I needed at least two bags to carry my photo equipment around.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nini-minou In reply to Sooper-Deviant [2008-02-17 21:42:12 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh I started with 3MP and now I have 9.0. But I still have to work with it alot because if I knew it better I bet my photos would be even better.

Didn't know about NANPA. You probably have seen a good amount of excellent photography at your office.

Wow, what a collection . That must have cost you a fortune. Look at me with my 30D, 550 EX flashlight, 50mm f/1.8, sigma 24-70 f/2.8 and canon 75-300 f/4.0-5.6.
Wanna change? .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sooper-Deviant In reply to CeeJa [2008-02-17 12:26:50 +0000 UTC]

Ha-ha... Thanks for the offer, but no thanks.

Hardly use those smaller lenses, but it's good to have them for certain locations where the larger and heavier ones aren't convenient. It seems like you've got the zooming range well covered from 24mm to 300mm using those two lenses plus a nice 50mm for rich DOF shots. The 30D was the top choice as back-up for many pro sports photographers until the 40D came along--they are great cameras and reasonably priced.

galactica1actual In reply to Sooper-Deviant [2008-11-23 09:07:34 +0000 UTC]

That 50mm lens is great. Its my favorite lens and works wonders with my portraits, especially cause I have an EOS 400D

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

CeeJa In reply to Sooper-Deviant [2008-02-17 18:03:09 +0000 UTC]

That's why I bought the 30D, when the 40D came along . So the 30D got cheaper .
And indeed, that whas my intention to cover the whole range from 24 to 300mm. And the 50mm f/1.8 I bought for dark locations and DOF .
Anyway, the 30D is lots better than my 300D I had before. The only negative thing is that my IR-remote doesn't work on 30D because it doesn't support IR .
Enjoy your wonderfull gear. Once when I'm a big boy, I hope I will have such a collection as well .

How you like working those push-pull lenses?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sooper-Deviant In reply to KSDale03 [2008-02-17 12:09:26 +0000 UTC]

Just got the 28-300mm no long ago and took me a couple hours to get used to it, but I'm enjoying it now. There's a locking ring which also controls the flexibility of the zooming extension which I like. Some users don't seem to manage it without good coordination or may have hard time balancing it due to its weight, but I do find this lens user-friendly and the most versatile in the standard zoom group [link] roductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=149

Yes, sometimes we have to rely on short radio frequencies when cell phones don't get receptions. Communication with shooting partners keep everyone informed when a good shot is available on location.

Serious hobby for the most part, but I also do on-location portraits (indoors and outdoors) and special events (weddings, parties, etc.) when I'm not too busy with work at the office.

Most people start with a small SLR kit. I did it with a Digital Rebel XT and two lenses (18-55mm and 28-80mm). It all depends on how quickly you outgrow your photo equipment.
