They had 26 episodes finished before NAC/TVTokyo/Studio Gallop's legal right to pull the license from 4kids for breach of contract was overturned by the case judge, as apparently 4Kids had filed for the trademark before the case began, permitted by them cutting 5D's production short.

Again, ZEXAL is pathetic show of all Yu-Gi-Oh! series. It seemed like 3 years old wrote it down in the hurry. I mean... why have the protagonist (Yuma) being asshole to his friends as they offered the helps to him but was polite and nice to the completely stranger (Astral)? Why had he being a butthead to his sister who was in charge to looking after him in their parents' place? Why should he befriended with the completely stranger that can turn out to be a backstabber? To me, it seemed like ZEXAL is teaching the kids to be assholes, stealing stuffs from other and claiming those stuffs they stolen "theirs" instead of the stuffs' original owners? Seriously, matey, scratch that show and renew it from beginning, with better storyline, please!

Yeah...most of that was the 4k dub. The thing you learn about the 4K dubs when you watch the show subbed? Almost everything relating to character portrayal is different, as they screwed it up THAT much. Yuma's still an insufferable Idiot, but he's not THAT much of an irredeemable jackass.
Which is sad, as lore-wise it's one of the most important series for tying all of the series' together, as it explains how the hell magic works across all of them and gives it an origin Via the Numeron Dragon (Which is only backed up thanks to the 'prana' Storypoint in Darkside of Dimensions, as Prana is defined as Cosmic energy, ergo the power of Creation, ergo the Numeron Dragon's originating creation power), and the character plots outside of Yuma were interesting, but we just didn't care because it had the worst protagonist.

I am pointing at both Dub and Sub of ZEXAL, they both suck balls. And yes, Yuma is still "an irredeemable jackass" to his friends in Sub. If I was the writer, I would just smack the helluva out of that foolish and get him to learn some basic moves from his friends first. I can leave the advanced moves to Astral, not anything, included basic.
And again, the entire storyline was caused by Yuma himself. If he hadn't punch the keyhole at that time, he hadn't summoning the motherfucking Barians to the Earth as they were completely lost in the space. If he hadn't punch that fucking keyhole, he hadn't make too many assholes popping from nowhere because of "Numbers" cards. Hell, not even half of "Numbers" cards were revealing in the story, making ZEXAL the first show to failing the original goal; by reveal ALL key cards and used ALL key cards in the same show. Like in Duel Monsters, it's Divine-Beast cards. In GX, it's Sacred Beasts. in 5D's, it's Six Signer Dragons. And in Arc-V, it's Four Dimensional Dragons. Those shows succeeded where this (ZEXAL) show failed. Since that goal in ZEXAL had failed, the story don't matter anymore, it's full of craps. Hell, the manga went different direction and gave little stabilized storyline, but still it's a crap one - by sealed Astral away for good, and leave the dead people dead.

I don't know what it was about adding motorcycles to card games that added that extra level of amazing instead of making it completely ridiculous (I mean, it was, and sometimes I would remember what I was watching exactly and laugh) but it worked.

And on top of a moving train, don't forget on top of a moving train ( and a blimp, and a plane at one point) but those were one offs and not how the game was meant to be played, in 5ds not only were we supposed to take it seriously, we were supposed to believe the entirity of society took it seriously XD
