I put the little "YGO" there mainly because in LOP, Prideshipping refers to Lette/Skyla (yes, I stole a yugioh shipping name, yes, I did it totally on purpose. You'll understand if you know the characters.)I love the people in this fandom (one of the many reasons I'm still in it). One actually told me once that Yami Yugi/Kaiba is "totally canon" because of the way Yami shouts Kaiba's name. Which I sort of get with SOME of the times Yami says Kaiba's name, but he rarely ever says Kaiba's name TO Kaiba when he's not ticked off at him.
And it was one of the things that popped into my head when I was feeling good last night because I was done with my incomplete. So I did a comic about it. (Really, I felt GOOD. My spine and shoulders were all relaxed and unpainful, and EVERYTHING. XD)
That fourth panel? Probably the most fun I've had drawing Atem EVAR.

Perhaps not, but publically speaking, they cared about gay marriages. This would only work if Seth was a girl. Even the gay couples had a wife usually, so they wouldn't be called 'gay' in public.

My read has always been that nobody argued with what the Pharaoh did as long as he fathered an heir, and was discreet if it was too particularly outrageous. There was, after all, a woman pharaoh. You'd think THAT was too outrageous, but Hatshepsut had one of the most prosperous reigns of Egypt. Her stepson erased her name in a lot of places when she died, but that was also a common political move, and signs are that he actually respected her deeply.
That said, I really don't ship this myself. I just find it amusing.

Actually, many thought Hatshepsut was a man, that's why nobody cared. While it is true that nobody cared what the pharaoh did, if the priests or officials thought what their king did was unacceptable, they would plot to assassinate their king, especially if the king had too much power. That's what happened to Juliece Ceaser. His officials thought he had too much power and killed him off. They believed if they didn't, that if the king did curtain irresponsible actions that was considered unacceptable, the kingdom would fall. In a sense, they would think the kingdom would fall if a king was to have gay relations, because they could not have kids and no kids means no king to take the throne. Also, kings would be prideful about that, which is why they had harems.
Now, that being said, Hatshepsut was known of her true gender by a few officials, but since she ran her kingdom well and there was no one else to take the throne, they didn't really have a choice in the matter. She took the throne because there was nobody else available. If Seto and Yami were to have gay relations and it was known, the priests and/or advisers can plot to assassinate Yami and even Seto and have Aknadan take the throne. Egypt was evil like that, as most kingdoms are.

I'm pretty sure people realized that Hatshepsut was a woman, given that she was rather publicly the queen of the pharaoh before her and also the daughter of the pharaoh before that. Annndd also was depicted as a woman early in her reign. She only depicted herself as a man (in statues!) as she was getting into the swing of things. Not to mention, your average Egyptian, even a pharaoh, typically went around half naked-- there's at least one ceremony a pharaoh was required to do that would have involved a lot of random people seeing that she was, in fact, a chick. Her gender would have actually been quite hard to hide.
Although granted, you may have read differently, as even though there are historical records of that time they are occasionally rather foggy due to politics and hearsay.
Also, ancient Egypt really didn't regard homosexuality the way more recent kingdoms did. They had some kinda sexist notions about it, and the submissive guy was regarded as emasculating himself, but it was fine if you were the dominant guy. This was covered in the mythology regarding Seth and Horus; there's actually a section where Isis basically tells her son it's okay as long as he tops.
Which is why I said, I really don't think the priests would care as long as the pharaoh was also making an effort to father an heir. I could buy a prideshipping story in which Yams was keeping concubines and even a queen, but was also sleeping with Seth just because he wanted to.

That's true. Still, there was no other man to rule as pharaoh, so that was a good reason for the queen to take over.
Lol in that case, I feel sorry for Seth. Atem would be the dominate guy in any matter. Though, you are right, if Atem was involved in gay relations, he would have a queen and concubines and just fk with Seth just because he wanted to. Though, that would be the only way to go. I guess it goes with the "as long as you have a queen, nobody gives a dam" lol. Though really, I don't see Atem as the gay type. He'd be too busy looking up dark magician girl's skirt XD
