Description Cernunnos, The Horned God with his consort, Danu, the Mother of the Fae.  Both Gods and Archetypes in their own rights.  Cernunnos is the Master of the Wild Hunt, representing chaos, death and unrestrained strength.  Danu is his opposite and match, The Mother, the giver of life, the Goddess of the hearth and the home.  They have been known by many names through the eons.  At one time may have been known as Hades and Persephone, in  the lesser known telling of it, Persephone loved her husband Hades very much, dispairing having to leave him in spring to make the flowers bloom, only in darkest winter could she return to the underworld to be by his side once more.  Their love a cycle of years and generations. Despite all his raw power, Cernunnos faded from the minds of the sentient races, losing touch with them in a way Danu never would, the Goddess kept alive through her lineage, watching over them and invested in the particulars of day to day living she remained attainable while Cernunnos became remote.  Gone are the days where the Gods walked among their people as one of them though, both having faded into memories long lost.

These two are Herla's penultimate ancestors and the root of Neela's dynastic memories.  I have long thought about drawing Cernunnos and I found I could not shake the idea that he was a centaur, I've had that feeling about him for some time so finally just gave in to it.  I'm not a huge fan of centaurs actually so that's a bit amusing.  For him, somehow, it works.  I've always favored the idea of him with ram or goat horns, the Horned God after all.  Pairing Danu with him in this picture in an Anthropomorphic form just seemed to work too.  Try to not to read too much into is.  These are Gods.  They appear how they want to appear.  Cernunnos may try antlers on for size or more ornate horns for example.  Danu may choose to be an owl.  For thousands of years.  Time is infinite and finite all at the same time   Before, present and after are distant concepts.

There are many things I'm displeased about with this image, pushing my skills to be able to portray things how I'd like to portray them.  Still no.t there but maybe something pretty to glance at none the less hopefully

((Also, please don't steal my stuff, I know the people who are going to do that sort of thing are going to do it whether I write it here or not but once again, I do protest, the abuse and theft of my concepts and art.  It seriously seriously bums me out.  Please don't do it.  Kaythanxbye ))

This looks great, especially love the colour of Cernunnos' pelt and his face. And the gold of course.

The way you've pictured these particular gods is amazing. I love the centaur-anthro pairing. I'm also a huge fan of your smooth anatomy. And I can't help but notice the Celtic knot detail in the background. I love Celtic knots a lot, yet drawing them with hand seems like a very hard thing to achieve...

Thanks!  The anthro-centaur pairing seemed unique and interesting to me too.  And as far as the Celtic knot border goes, I can't claim credit for that, it was from a Celtic knot clip art CD that I bought years ago.  I have in the past drawn my own Celtic knots however but my desire to get back into doing that is about as strong as my desire to get back into Calculus, ROFL.  Thanks again! ^_^

You are most welcome! And yes, it definitely is original. But even if you didn't really make the Celtic detail back there, it still looks neat and fits in well with the concept. Those gods' names seem to have a Celtic origin, as well, so I think your careful planning worked out well. I once tried drawing Celtic knots, too. I became really frustrated in the process... but heh, I can say that maths is still much more frustrating to me than Celtic knots. I once saw a very neat knot border which was hand-drawn. That artist really nailed the Celtic knot border. I still wonder how much frustration that cost her, though.

Ha no worries, it was unintentional the arm just happening to block certain things the way it was, but when I realized it I had a nice giggle too.  I shouldn't say that though.  I should impress with how well I planned the image, LMAO.  Thanks.

Your anatomy is always lovely. And I love their concept here. I can imagine her as a great owl roosting in his horns as well!
