"Umm... Err.... No I dun 'ave any axe, 'specially not behind my back. I didn't do nuffin!"Be careful of what trees you try to fell with your little axes. Treemen don't really enjoy being cut down, they can get rather grumpy if you disturb them, as this poor little goblin is about to find out.
This is my second piece of Forest Spirit art, and it's got a goblin in it. Everybody loves gobbos! XD
This piece took quite a while to finish because of all the little details and shading. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. There are a few things that annoy me about it but I'll consider this finished.

Edit (December 19th 2005): I fixed a few things with the drawing. I don't think you'll notice unless you compare the pictures to each other. Anyway, I made the areas between the treeman's head's branches lighter as the area was a bit smudged and therefore darker than it should be. I also added some careful highlights to the nermost tree and darkened the area at the top of the drawing where the foliage is. So long!

all your little creatures have great expressions. i just love the old treeman's dull gaze. he's almost just curious more than really angry. he's just kinda checkin' the wee gobbo out, before he casually tosses him over his shoulder. the wee femme sprite looks really bored and altogether more put out than the treeman by this cheeky little goblin.
and i love the gormless little forest spirit (mononoke hime-esque) on his shoulder. he's just happy to be here.
but best of all, is the tiny little borrower sized dude in the hat standing on the bracket fungus just above his knee.
the squirel, birdie, lizzard and owel are all very nice too. faved!!!

Wow. That's a lot of effort in that drawing....But the gobblin's weak grin is still what stands out the most. Very nice.

Thanks. yeah it took quite a while to pull off. It's nice to hear that you think the goblin's grin stands out the most, it means the goblin is still in focus. Those things can be a little hard for the artist to see actually, especially when he's been working on a drawing for quite long, and he knows how it is supposed to be anyway.

I did it in photoshop 7. Make an extra layer beneath the drawing layer. Then set the drawing's layer to "luminosity" (you can do that on the layers toolbar (Dunno if it's called toolbar? Oh well, by the layers there should be several options you can enable.) Then colour the whole other layer that's beneath the drawing's layer in the desired colour (in my case, green), and change that layer's opacity as 100% is too much.
I hope you understand what I mean.

I didn't think of that. He sure is a poor gobbo if he has an orcsie (or a bigger gobbo) as a master back at home. Well he is a poor gobbo anyway because the treeman might just kill him actually.
All this was the fault of a snotling who ran into and turned around the sign post that shows which way the goblin forest was and which way the forbidden elven forest of walking trees was. The snotling was probably being chased by a squig. ^^
