I like this version of Medusa. I like the aspect of her being able to roam among humans without being feared. Out of every monster in Greek mythology, I have always felt sorry for Medusa as she was cursed by Athena after she was violated by Poseidon (and on top of that...she gets decapitated by one of the bastard sons of Zeus)

It seems like anyone who was punished/tortured/cursed by the gods either deserved the deities' wrath or they were given the short end of stick
Example of someone who deserved their punishment: Atlas, the Titan, who fought alongside the other Titans during the Titanomachy (the war between the gods and Titans). When the others were either defeated or killed off, Atlas was sentenced to hold up the sky.
Example of someone who did not deserve their punishment: many of the women who Zeus had affairs with.
