This is page 9 of Doctor Who: Fade Away by my talented pal and collaborator Paul Hanley (story, colors, and lettering) and myself (pencils and inks). It is our (very fond) farewell to Nicholas Courtney. The final page. So now you all know what I've known since I first opened Paul's script a few months ago. It's a bit timey-wimey. s.This was easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had working in comics. So thanks, Paul for writing it and for never letting me be lazy about it. You're a gentleman and scholar.

many a time me and my brother would run round the farm arguing over who would be benton and who would be the brigadier (when your dads home on leave from the army its even more fun when he sys no im the brigadier and wed yell as one nooooo your a corporal (his rank then) you cant be the brigadier lol lol).
his gone now too.
but just like the brig he lives on in my heart as does harry and all the rest.
they may not be true 'diggers' or soldiers
but i still say with the utmost respect

Now if only BBC would give The Brigadier a suitable on camera send off. It would have been wonderful to have seen the surriving Doctors and F/X for the others assemble to honor him.

Well, it's come to the end. I read the story early on, and it made me shed a tear. I really doubted that you'd be able to do justice to the story (and I must just say - NO slight on your talent, but there is a heck of a lot of demand for likenesses in this story, and I think most artists would have baulked at the challenge) but you not only rose to the challenge, you have surpassed anything I had expected. This is easily better than a lot of the pro comics out there at the moment, and the love of you both for the subject matter shines thru! Really REALLY well done.

Well, thanks Paul (that's a different Paul than the writer for anybody that's reading this...Other Paul?) Both Paul and I have done Buckaroo Banzai for Moonstone which is also very likeness heavy. Plus I've always like those kinds of comics. But Smith is hard to capture I have to say. I think I got slightly better with him about mid-way through. It was definitely a challenge. And yes this really did come from a very soft spot Paul and I have for Doctor Who. So thank you for reading it.
