Description This is for an art trade with - he requested a Tyrant from Resident Evil, and I picked the one I was most familiar with: T-078 from Code: Veronica.

I hate this guy (the Tyrant that is). He's the one boss that always wipes the floor with me. He's so scary D:

Second try with a Gamut wheel for a colour scheme as well. I used it to try and get more colours into the colour scheme, hopefully making it less monochromatic.

This is so very COOL c:

I think the muted colour scheme you used was great, and really helps the intricate detailing of the muscles to stand out .o. It also compliments the face, which will give me nightmares for a while D:

Also, the setting is rather similar to the jet at the end of Resident Evil 5 before it crashes into the volcano .o. Was that the idea?

Great stuff!

YAY THANKS! As for the jet thing, this is actually a part of Code Veronica - you escape a prison island in a seaplane but this guy jumps on in the back, and you have to run around this tiny compartment trying to use a crate full of explosives to kick him out! Unfortunately he can sprint like hell and smash that claw down on you.

okeedokee What really strikes me is that position of the straightened leg. I get that you are trying to shorten it for the perspective of a lunging pose, and that part is good, it's more the angle of the leg is too straight, so it makes it seem as though the leg is short instead of trailing behind. It would look more like the angle of a back slash --> \ but doesnt need to be THAT extreme. obviously just something to play with until it looks right. The other thing that I notice is the support bar that is at the top of the arch way. It is a bit confusing because the dimensions are not defined in the same way the bottom one is. It looks a bit flat and as a result makes the perspective of the wall as a whole inconsistent. At the bottom it appears angled in and at the top it seems like a flat wall because of the undefined dimensions. Overall though it's a strong image and you're getting better and better with action shots like these

Thankyou for such an excellent critique! For the first point, do you think it would help if I studied perspective poses?

no problem! I deffinitly think it would help to study perspective poses the lunge pose is used quite often in comics, so you could even study from that! there's also comic reference photography websites or books, but that depends if you want to spend cash for reference/preactice material lol

Yeah, I'm reading 'Making Comics' by Scott McCloud and he recommended one, but I don't know if it'd carry over to realism. I suppose it would... I'll look some stuff up!

Out of curiosity how do *you* beat him? All I can ever do is hope I have enough grenade ammo and health stuff or whatever D:

Sheenah In reply to scheherazadenerai [2011-07-18 13:21:44 +0000 UTC]

Well...I make sure to have explosive arrows with me and grenade rounds. Shoot it until it starts to really walk slowly (like he's really hurt) and then press the button for the crate, and it will go flying in the sky! XD

and make sure to have some herbs or first aid pray, just in case.
