-alternately named somefin fishy-I'm surprised I haven't drawn a fishdude yet, y'know, since my name is scarletfish...
so i fixed that. :-)
betta fish are weak swimmers and they can drown if they can't reach the surface to get oxygen.

noo betta fish are not lazy, people just don't care for them properly. Β the fish look extremely miserable in the cups at the store because they don't have heat, enough space, and proper filtration. Β It's a shame.
though you're right about them eating fish- they can be quite aggressive unless unusually docile at nature.

Bettas have both labyrinth organ and gills, but when there isn't enough oxygen, their gills can't sustain them alone. So this piece is sorta accurate (for a mythical creature, lol)
