This is my first vector! Every time I tried to vector, I'd get so fustrated.... I think its because I kept reverting to digital painting mode, hehe. But this is the first one I've ever finished. I'm quite proud of it.It is of Sayid from the TV show, LOST. Naveen Andrews is the actor who plays Sayid. Ha, what can I say? I was looking through photos of Naveen online, because I became quite interested in this guy (he's gorgeous and his Sayid character fascinates me), and I became suddenly and strangely inspired to vector one of his LOST photos!... and it worked, LOL, go me!

you know.. i rarely watch lost, cuz i'm rarely home except for the holidays, but i watch it if it's on. funnily, everytime i watch it i'll keep looking for sayid bcuz i know you like him XD

Impatience is why I haven't done another vector, LOL. I'm so used to digital painting that it's hard to try something quite different like vectoring too.

But isn't digital painting and vector-ing somewhat the same? I mean, both use digital image-editing programs, and sometimes even digital paintings have references..
I find it odd that you say vector-ing is harder, tho.. I always thought that when you have something to guide you (ie. the original pic you want to vector), it's easier than illustrating something freely like digital drawings?

I guess it depends on how you vector or vexel... or whatever they call it. I think mine is really a vexel since I used Photoshop instead of Illustrator. The way I learned how to vector was to use the lasso tool and "fill in" thingy over the actual image I was using, so it was quite different from straight painting (the way I do it anyway).
I have to admit I'm still a bit confused on the whole vecor/vexel concept, LOL. Which is another reason I haven't done another one.
Maybe it's just harder because I'm set in my ways. I dunno.

I've seen a few movies with Naveen, but that's before I knew who he was. I vaguely remember "The English Patient." I remember "Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love" better, LOL.

Very nice. Only one thing bothers me though. The gradient background. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe a different colour gradient or a solid colour would suit it more. But I am very impressed with him. And you're right, he is gorgeous.

You're welcome. I'm a big fan of constructive criticism. If you're going to tell someone you don't like something, offer a suggestion on how to change or fix it. After looking at it again, I can see that the gradient does somewhat fit in with the rest of the picture.
