Maybe it's just a sign of how 'Beauty and the Beast' -centric my brain can be, but when I read that word I kept thinking of how in the original fairy tale they always speak of the family falling into 'great misfortune' and losing all their wealth. I always felt that the daughter being used as essentially blood money was an even greater misfortune, but hey that's just me.

I can't help but feel bad for her, she asked for something simple and it ended up costing her (so she believed at the time) her life. Considering how much a rose cost her in the end, I find it a little odd that in many versions she ends up being surrounded by a rose motif. If I were in her position I would feel like I were being taunted by the owner of the castle for having asked for something simple that unintentionally causing my entrapment.

(Isn't it interesting how close Beauty and the Beast is to being a horror story when you really look at it?)

Yeah...there are a lot of flaws in how this is colored, but please be nice I colored this in the back of a car while on a bumpy road. Took forever to be careful with it.

Anyway, the fairy tale is in the public domain but this image belongs to me. No stealing.

So very true. The poor beauty in the stories. Of anything she asked for, it was just a simple rose and it brought her much trouble. Though, you can say it was worth it in the end.

Yeah, poor dear. I always thought she was rather brave, actually. I mean, she knew her decision got her dad into trouble, and rather than worming out of it, she goes "you know what, I got you into this, I'll take on the responsibility of it". As far as she was aware, she was going to be killed for it. Many times she gets portrayed as a bit simpering...but that's pretty gutsy.

Lol, and indeed, it was worth it in the end.

I guess what I like about fairy tales is that it gives the the bones but leaves enough room for you to dress it, with flesh. Oh that reminds me of an independent film called "Spike" that takes the beauty and the beast and makes in to a horror film.

Oh definitely, they change with you. Their ephemeral nature is both exasperating and elevating. That does look kind of nifty, I added it into my netflix queu out of shear BatB nerdiness XD Thanks
