Description Oil Painting. I did this in college as part of my Senior project.

Used a real cat skull as a reference.

The painting is approximately 6 ft by 4 ft.

Exactly the angle I've been looking for! This will be the perfect reference for a commission I'm doing! Thanks!

I'm genuinely confused--if you don't have access to a real cat skull, why wouldn't you use a photo reference (you can always check out my stock account for at least one) or a resource like Digimorph (a website that contains interactive 3-d scans of animal skulls)?

Either a photo or a 3-d scan would be much more accurate as a reference.

Also, I'm not comfortable with someone using my painting as a reference for their own commissioned work. I'm really not trying to be mean--it's just that there are better resources out there, for a number of reasons.

Great job with the colours!
I love me some skulls Got a cat one myself that I found some years back.
I also have 2 (and a half) deer skulls, and a closet full of bones that I've found. I have a habit of finding bones so frequently that I scare people ;o;

Hey have I commented on your work before? hmmmmmmm. Anyway you have an interesting gallery and I have been popping in to see your gallery every now and again....but for some reason (don't know why) haven't devwatched you so I will.

This is an excellent painting, I just love the blue background, it contrasts so nicely with the skull and makes it really jump out at you.
Anyone that does not view this painting in full-view is doing themselves a huge diservice. This must be seen in all it's glory. the different shades and tones on the skull are phenomenal and give me the impression of a freshly decayed skull (or skinned...lol ).
I am also very impressed with the teeth, although the whole skull looks pretty real, the teeth are perfect.
Gorgeous work!

Glad you like my gallery... It's kind of all over the place, huh?

I like your gallery too, and will have to return the watch. Thanks again for such a thoughtful, detailed comment.
